I would de-solder the LPC points first and then do a pin header install it's the safer way. Hope this helps. :D :) :D

TEaPaZ is right the pin header is the way to go. but if you want to do a wire install then go to www.baldbouncer.co.uk and he has a wire install color code diagram on his site.

Yea, I just did a 1.0 xbox and it was a breeze. Goto Radio Shack and buy a solder pump for $3. It'll suck the solder out of all the holes in seconds.

I set my motherboard vertical, heat up the top side with my iron and sucked the solder from the underside...

why not, if you already have holes filled, it simple

by the time you de-solder all the holes, you could have just soldered the damn thing in

Of course its quicker for advanced solderers ( is that even a word...?), but for the inexperienced, you should usually want to have as little contact between the iron and the board. i.e. pinheader = good
Desoldering is simple, as long as you have braid or a pump.

But, the bottom line is, most people run a higher risk of damaging the mobo with a wire install than with a pin header.

well, you have solder in the holes already, just heat them up, and put the wires in.

and any 2 ways, your going to have to solder the lines on the back of the board for the lan and hd activity lights

That statement is so untrue infact i just installed a x3 with flying colors using wire install.....just heated up each hole and it sucked the wire right in and my chip works great.......a pin header install for newbies can be a nightmare seeing that the PINS are very very small and can burn up 1 of the trace wires, i too wanted the pin header rout but after seeing the pins i was like wire install i go and people will be amazed on how easy it was that it sucked the wire right in big ups to teamxecuter would making this stuff possible....and i never in my life modded a console until now. =)

I am still not sure which way to go cuz: some of u r saying that if i do pin header,i could burn up the traces, but then other ppl r saying that it is eaiser for n00bs to do a wire install because all u hav to do is suck the wire into the LPC point adn it is in.

If i am doing the pinheader install, what does the solder hav to touch? and what does the pinheader hav to touch in the hole? does it hav to touch the sides of the hold or does it just hav to go through?

Dude desoldering is a bitch I have tried twice to redo my install as a pin head but this one hole the solder just wont come out of. To bad solder dosent come off as easy as it goes on.

As for desoldering, I have a little trick that I did when doing my 1.0 box.... All you have to do is stand up the MOBO and have a friend handy for a 3rd hand.... Use your soldering iron on the one side to heat up the solder. Have your friend (3rd hand) on the other side with the solder sucker. Put the solder sucker flat against the board and hit the button when the solder is hot....Violla!! No more solder in the hole... I did mine in 5 minutes after figuring that out!!!

Edit--- This was the first soldering I have done in a LONG time!!!
