HEY THANKS 1911WOLF, this is just what i wanted to see.
the points for the wire install are really too small. is there any advise to go around them, or tips for soldering these points besides the one for the lpc.
anyone is welcome to help. Please.

If i were in your shoes i'd buy another pin header and do it that way since your gonna have to do the rebuild anyway for the 1.6

If you can solder the d0 point, you can do the wire install...Personally, I prefer the Wire install over the Pinheader any day because you can make sure the connections are solid.

Please elaborate on how you were unable to assure a pinheader was soldered well. You must be pretty close to blind.

And I'm pretty sure a pinheader soldered down to the board with the modchip sitting ontop is a lot more solid than depending on seperate wires to keep their connection and never bend over or fall onto another pin.

Pinheader is more solid/secure. Period.

Hey thanks folks. i am already working on the wire install, and just finished soldering the D0 pts. using this method here. I've got all except soldering wires to pin #5,#7, & #8. http://www.teamxecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7284
thanks to 1911wolf.

NOSPMOHTKCIN: thanks for the advice, but i've already experience the pinheader install method and i would recommend it to all newbie too, However i didn't boot up to the "rox my box" logo on the screen. and i found that the chip are not level properly on the pin header. seems like when you solder the pin, they often melt when it gets hot enough. therefore leaving the pin header unalign evenly.

JOVOCOP: I have to agree with u on this one, mainly because i am sorta good with soldering. Mostly the D0 is the hardest pt. to soldered, but all of them are still difficult b/c of their sizes. Newbie or Not u gotta have much patience when installing the chip, including the soldering parts.

If any other advice comes up please post here for newbie, thanks guys for responding.

sorry for the double post, but while working on soldering the yellow wire to point #5, i've came across a slight obstacle.
question is do i solder the wire directly to the resistor r7d8 or the pt. just to the right of it as shown here http://www.teamxecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7284
Just double checking, don't want to ruin another xbox. please help through this installation procedure. gotta go to work in 15 minutes. i will check back tomorrow. will check back tommorow.

I feel the wire install is better because you can pull on each wire seperatly to make sure the connection is solid. When you want to remove the chip (for transport, adding ad-ons, etc.) you dont have to put stress on the soldering connections. You can also see the two LEDs beside the DVD drive through the top of the Xbox to make sure the X3 is working properly, you don't have to open the Xbox.

I am a very experienced solderer and have done both the pinheader and wire install. I feel that it's a matter of opinion, if you like the pinheader; go right ahead and do that install.

If you've actually looked at the wires, they are pre-stripped so they can't fall over onto another another wire, you'd have to be pretty stupid to be able to get those wire to touch after it's been installed.
