Can someone give me a link to step by step detailed instructions on how to wire install a X2.6ce to a 1.0 version box. This damn crappy xapt3r isnt working. Thanks.
Ummmmm. Ok let me ask some questions. All I have to do is solder the wires into the lpc holes and then connect back to the chip and thats it? Wheres the d0 point under the board?
The easiest point to solder D0 is on the back of the board. Take a look at the Team Xecuter tutorial and scroll down to the step after the soldering of the pinheader. It shows the points for D0, the LAN LED wire and HDD LED wire. http://www.teamxecuter.com/x3/tutorials/x3pin1015.htm
Don't worry that the tutorial says "X3," the install is the same for both chips.
ok two more questions before my firend and I attempt this delicate procedure lol. 1. As Ive said before I got a x2.6. It didnt come with a Power/Eject No Solder Adapter as there is in the instructions. Do I need this? What is it for?? 2. In the instructions it says to tape up the 5v pin to protect against shorts for the X3 and X2.6. But I dont see any 5V pins on the chip. Is it on the mobo?
have not owned a x2.6 but i think it dose not come with power eject board you disable it from bios bank switch board its only used for x3 chip the 5v pin the same if any its on the chip
As stated about, the 2.6 does not come with the reset/eject PCB. That is the only difference in the install. The tutorial says to tape up the 5v pin because on the first 2.6 and X3 there was a single pin to connect the alternate 5v wire to. Now it is a nice platic connecter, so there is no need to worry about that anymore.

By "easiest" I didn't mean that it was easy, but that it was less difficult than the others. Even as someone that has done a lot of soldering, including fine operations like D0, I don't consider it an easy joint.
Agreed, pre tin the wire and use flux to help the process.
