Aight Ive grown tired of unhooking my xbox and dragging it all the way to the basement just to hook it up to my router to play X-live. I Know that a wired connection is the best but i'm seriously considering going wireless. Ive got broadband and a dlink 624 wireless router.

I just wanna know if the xbox wireless adapter is any good and if they are any alternatives such as a wireless bridge that i can use and does anyone have a suggestion or experience with any of these alternatives. Ive done some searching but came up with very little.

Thanks for sharing any advice that you've got!!

the only other one i have seen besides M$'s extremely overpriced adapter is this one http://www.linksys.com/products/product.asp?prid=550&scid=36
i HAD one and it lasted for about a week then quit working. when it did work it worked great, really easy to set up, it could even use WEP on my wireless network. the only bad thing was it quit working after a week. it seemed to be cheaply made. but you can deffinately check it out, it might work better for you.
i picked it up for around $50 (usd) at a local wal-mart. hope this helps ya out.

Yea linksys is reasonable and a breeze to install. I'd reccomend it.

I haven't played a lot with wireless, but I have bought several Lynksys products over the years.

The downside is that they are a bit light so when you hook several Cat5's in them they have a tendancy to not sit flat on whatever surface you put them on.

Other than that, they have worked flawlessly (for me anyway) and are a breeze to config.

BlackSabbath - Didn't you take it back for a replacement? Wal-Mart has a rep for taking ANYTHING back.

Linksys Wireless B adapter...

I've been using the one BlackSabbath linked to for about a year, it's alright. Sometimes(couple weeks usually) it will stop recieving a signal, but that's easily fixed by reseting it.

True that...

The firewall/router/hub I got from them about 4 years ago needed resetting now and then. Firmware upgrades should take care of that sooner or later.

Walmart (at least in my area, and as far as I can tell, Online) has stopped stocking the Wireless B game adapter that you listed.

My Walmart is showing the new Wireless G adapter to be comming in soon.

CompUSA and Circuit City are stocking them also. Don't have a clue if they are any better, but I have always had good luck with Linksys.

I am using the WET11 Wireless Ethernet Bridge (as suggested by someone else in Cyberspace) and it works flawlessly. Have had no problems at all.

WERD!

They are owned by Cisco now... Should be the superior product on the market.

Currently running it at the house right now in a similar config. I've run both b and g ethernet bridges and I have to say that if at all possible you will be better on a g network. A b network is ok for most things but if you want to do any streaming content later I've had lots of issues with b that are no longer a problem since moving to g. BTW the wrt54g is going for 49 right now on a lot of sites and it will even run xlink allowing you to play games online.

If your going to use linksys gaming wireless device I highly recommend getting rid of your dlink router and going with a linksys router. I have installed too many of these not to notice little querks that arise when they are used with other named routers. The most common problem I have found when you use the linksys gaming wireless device with other named routers is that it will loose connection after 15-20 mins of play. I personally use a Netgear router with a wired connection. Linksys routers also have an advantage by being able to upgrade their existing antennas to high gain antennas. Now I am not sure if others are able to do that, but I know for sure Linksys does.
