Hi, I have a wireless setup in my house using a router.
The router plugs directly into my phone line and my PC has a little arial thing in the back (no wires connecting to each other)
I also have a ethernet bridge plugged into the back of my xbox so I can play "xbox live" wireless.....ly..... anyway now that I have my xbox modded can I network the two of them using this wireless setup or will I need wires connecting directly to my PC. As I do not want to switch on my bridge the same time as my router with the modchip enabled incase it goes directly onto live and I get barred!!!!
Does anyone know if they can help me with this???
Thanks

Yes, you can definitely connect them wirelessly through your router, but you will have to have your bridge on at the same time as your mod chip otherwise you won't be able to do anything with the connection. If you are really worried about accidentally connecting to Xbox Live while your chip is enabled just disconnect your router from your phone line. You will then have a local network without internet connectivity. Once your PC and Xbox are connected wirelessly it's just like a normal wired connection and should have all the functionality. You will just need to find out the IP addresses assigned to each by your router and then you'll be all set. Depending on how old your router is you should be able to set up static IP's for your PC and Xbox and then not have to worry about them ever changing. Good luck!

So I just take it I just follow a faq for networking the PC to xbox yeah???
Do you know which is the best one as there are far too many out there and that just complicates things.
Thanks again

What exactly are you trying to do with your setup? If your ethernet bridge is already connecting to your wireless router you should already be all set. Just find out what IP addresses have been assigned to both your Xbox and your PC. Once you know that everything else should be no problem.

I was speaking to my friend an dhe says that this is not possible because the ethernet bridge and the ariel thing on my PC are just recievers and they are just recieving the DSL connection that the router is giving out?!?!?!
Is this true???
Thanks

One thing to bear in mind that caught me out was using Kai with the PC connecting to a wireless router. The Xbox was hardwired into the router (built-in switch). No matter what we tried, Kai would only work up until a game was launched, then nothing.

The only way to get round it was to hardwire the PC to the switch. Then, Kai would work properly. Everything else worked a treat wireless, even the Kai menu in XBMC connected ok and allowed me to browse/host/join etc - just died after launching a game.

The reason it didn't work wireless was due to the fact that the wireless card we got didn't support promiscuous mode - bugger!!

I haven't read too much about it, but I believe it's something slightly similar to half & full duplex????

My ethernet bridge is connected to my router no problem as I use it to play xbox live, the only thing is, is that I dont know how to find out what IP addresses have been assigned both my xbox and PC. How do I find this out.
Ta very much
