Wires or QSB?

I was thinking about buying Phat RGH QSB's from xconsoles but im wondering if it is better to just install the nand qsbs that come with the nand x and using bare wires for the cool runner portion.

In other words, is it better to use the QSB's or are they just a pain when it comes to RGH on a Phat.

i suppose you could, i didn't find it that hard to solder the HANA portion of the QSB and that is the only real addition.

i've read the new QSB's are apparently "optimized" for the RGH, but im not sure how true those statements are.

It's money well spent, 4 or 5 bucks and I have access to the nand with just 3 connectors and solder in only once. Also for some reason I had better nand reads.

I tried both and had success with wires only install only because I messed up on the QSB install with too much solder. The QSB's do have pads on them that the coolrunner wires solder right onto; it looks pretty easy once you get the QSB's themselves soldered on properly. It's really what you feel more comfortable with. I found myself more comfortable with the wires only for everything but might try QSB's again in the future. well as you can see from the replies yes actually having the qsb may get you better and cleaner nand reads

and if for any reason you want to flash your nand or anything its just 3 connectors

so my guess go ahead

I'd actually say there is no diference in nand reads, thats to say one is not better than the other. It is more convenient to have a QSB there it you want to reflash later, but as you can generally reflash more reliably (again some might say due to better bad block handling) from Xell it's really horses for courses.
I'm leaning towards without, but I guess I'd keep some in just to give people the option if they come to me for fitting.

I've done installs with and without the QSBs - and I have to say - boot times on PHATs are PERFECT with every QSB install I've done - glitches 1st time every time.....the ones without have random glitch times, but are still acceptable

Unless you have a Zephyr or BB Jasper it should glitch almost first time, so don't think it has anything to do with QSB or wires. I've done both phats and slims with both wires and QSB and haven't noticed a difference between them.

I had a Zephyr that I was waiting for the QSB to come in and went ahead and solder in the nandX right to the board, it was clean solder job everything looked perfect, so read the nand 3 times and they all matched no bad blocks and no non matching blocks. A couple days later I got the QSB in and installed them and I read nand again 3 times and all matched, no bad blocks. So for the hell of it I compared the wire dump to the QSB dump and they didn't match I had non matching blocks, I had done nothing to console it was just setting there, I'm not sure why they were different but I used the QSB dump to build my nand and worked out fine.
