What's your time and JTAG console worth to you in $$$$$$ ??

I've seen this over and over again and it makes me cringe as people are ruining jtags even though they are really rare.

Treat yourself to a nandX it's pretty much fool proof, as long as it's soldered correctly which is fairly easy it will detect and dump your NAND.

It will also eliminate the risk of getting a corrupt dump as lpt is generally susceptible to a lot of of interference.

Okay yea, dude you need to resolder that.

Don't solder the 100 OHM resistors to the board. Solder directly to LPT. Clip off some of the leg. No need to be that long.

If you can get an ethernet coupling it is better to use an ethernet cord.

It is defiantly the way you soldered in that cable. I would take pics of the inside but both of my jtags are assembled.

Here is how I did it, got the idea from some guy who did a guide. I just didn't follow the guide.

Went ahead and took my xenon a part to give you more idea and how clean it needs to be to work.

I'm not trying to be an arse or nothing with the clean comment but it's true. When I did my first jtag I pretty much rushed and didn't try for short length wires, didn't test my connection, just kinda tossed it together and I could never get it to work properly. Even when I got the nand read it would write back errors. So I redid everything, took my time and did it as neat as possible. Works 100% flawless and when I do mess up making an image or what ever don't have to take the box apart to fix it.

Looking at the pictures I put up, does it appear that I've damaged the board? It's not burnt and I can still make out the copper "rings" on the contact.

I think I am going to go ahead an buy a Nand-X if it still looks okay to resolder, just so this isn't such a pain in the ass anymore.
