You can, but I wouldn't recommend it, but if you only want to flash your own, I guess you can.

1st of all, connect your drive to your computer via sata, power the drive (with your xbox), see if your computer even detects the drive, once that step is done, we can see if you need anything else or not.

If his SATA port is no good, he may find himself getting a X360USB PRO, I'd rather choose over a VIA chipset. Then you get all the support here you want, although, a CK3lite/X360USB PRO/JF and the JF tutorial pdf is all you will need, of course, and that unlock disc, lol.

It's been said by every mod in here not to use the xbox to power the drive while flashing and you told him to anyway, I don't understand why you would give such poor advise.

OP, buy a ck3 mini it's only $15 and gets the job done

I didn't recommend it did I? I just stated the fact it does actually work, dollar for dollar its not worth spending money on a device you will use one or two times. Its not poor advice, it make sense, unless you like wasting money on devices and shipping then waiting on shipping time.

I always actually recommend to use a proper device such as a CK3 lite Pro or Mini to power the drive and get the Liteon Probe, then start a flashing service to make your money back, that's how I started long ago.

No - it's really sh*t advice.

If you plug the connector in upside down on a CK3, worst case you kill the DVD drive. Do it on a console and you'll kill both. Why do you think T-X sell it as an option and not just advise people to use their console?

Thread closed. OP - if you want help, use T-X products and come back. This is a T-X support forum. There are plenty of other places you can go for help.

Thread re-opened.

OP - to flash the Hitachi v79 sucessfully and with as little hassle as possible, get the following

x360USBPro v2
external molex PSU (if you're using a laptop).
79 unlock CD (downloadable directly from Jungleflasher).
