Won't play retail games after LT3.0, dvd movies fine

So I have flashed my phat lite-on dg-16d2s. I had some problems getting writing bank 0 on the flash, however with perseverance, i finished the jungle flasher flash.

However now I can't get my xbox to play games, original retail games. It says disc unrecognized. I was thinking it might be the laser or something like that, but the thing still plays dvd movies.

It was flashed from an old windows xp box using a via 6421 chipset.

Any idea how this could happen and possible fix?

Sounds like dvd key wasnt flashed or isnt original one

This can happen alot with liteon drives cos u have to open up the drive to extract the key. There is always a possibility that u may have caught a wire, ribbon or laser wen taking the drive apart or putting it back together.

Okay, so I got an update, today I got a lens cleaner, and cleaned the laser. When it didn't work I got a little discouraged, but I ejected and reinserted and it worked, so my flash is definitely good, and is now working.

Eventually I'm sure it might go out completely, so I'll buy another dg -16d2s, because from what I've been reading I'm going to need one flashed with 800 to rip games anyway. Then when my xbox drive does go out, it seems I can copy the properties of my old drive.

If there is any fault in my thinking, please input.

Yeah, but I'm thinking since I need a xbox drive to rip games to make backups, I might as well get the same drive, so I can use for parts when I need to.
