Not over there.
I had a perfect and easy install, my friend nagged that it'd be better to pay for someone to chip it, but the only nearest place couldn't tell me what chip they were fitting, so I did it myself, easy as pie, dunno what the fuss is, although I am having a weird random thing where I power on and it'll turn itself off again, like a FRAG, but it'll work when it turns itself on again.

Note: I know how to definatly make it do this, turn it off and then instantly turn the xbox on again and it will do the resetting before power on, if I leave it 5+ seconds, it doesn't reboot while powering on. although it sometimes does, sometimes doesn't still. I'm not sure whats going on, it's a pin header install with front panel intercept installed, latest bios (I hate remembering version numbers), came with FlashBIOS 3.0.3 installed, delivered 2 days after ordering from baldbouncer.co.uk (Worth the plug, good site).

Any suggestions, I suppose it doesn't impede the working of my xbox, but it is annoying. Free hug to anyone that figures it out.

EDIT: It's On > Off > On > Works (Rather than on>off>on>off>frag)

I don't think it's my soldering, I had no problems while attaching the pin header or d0/hdd/lan wires.

One question though, what is that variable resistor on one corner of the modchip board for? Top left of this picture:

Re: Xclamp Fan not spinning

try loosening the bolts mate. you didnt scratch any of the traces on the board whilst removing the xclamps did you? i did this my first time and i had the same issue with the fans and it didnt recover either. so i stripped it down for parts.

Re: Xclamp Fan not spinning

are you guys saying to scraped a line?

couldnt you fill the scratch in with epoxy and then reconnect the scratched points?

i know its tough but if its gonna be trash anyway wouldnt it be worth a try?

sh*t i would even just take wire and put it in the epoxy to make the new connection lol.

Re: Xclamp Fan not spinning

try redoing the xclamp fix. thats a good sign mate. at least you know the boards actually not screwed. if that doesnt work the next step is a reflow mate.

hope that helps.

Re: Xclamp Fan not spinning

thats what id do. fully clean the chips again, apply new thermal paste and reapply the bolts and washers. thenoverheat without the fans until you get 2 red lights. leave to cool then turn on again. hopefully you should now have all green. its worth a try and 9/10 it works for me.
