It seems that when i run my xbox for over 5 minutes or so and then shut it down by pressing the power button and then re pressing it to turn it back on it goes haywire. Now by haywire i mean when i reboot it mod enabled, disabled, or backup, it will frag but not with red and green but amber only instead. it works like this mod enabled=amber light on for a sec then frag and same again til the third time it stays amber and then shuts down. An example of this would be installing rom's on the hdd and then rebooting it so i can use the roms as an example.

Now my first thought is maybe the xbox is running to hot. due to the fact i have a 1.6 and im using an X3 the temps are not accurate. so i just uped the fan to 70 percent . well this didn't work

so then i tried using evox power off option instead of pressing button. well this works 25% of the time.

I also removed the top of the xbox case and put a big floor fan running on high but this seem usless.

What does seem to fix this issue is leaving box unplugged for about 10 minutes then repluging it in and all is fine til i need to reboot. I can play a game for 2 hrs and have no problems just when i reboot.

I also resoldered everything and used a magnifying glass to check all my solders. All seem fine actually they look almost as good as the tutorial. Im wondering if this could be a situation with the d0, or some had a bit of insight to what might be the error. What about the bios coyuld they have been corrupted? I use x3 1892 v16

Thanks In Advance

eh it almost sounds like a heat problem, but not really....

if it were a heat problem, wouldnt it turn off during ur hours of gameplay and not when you simply "reboot" it? but then you say after it sits its good to go. also im not sure a room fan would help any, as all it does is circulate room temp air thru out the box

uhm, powersupply, bogus bios? idk enuff about xbox to diagnose anything...

Yeah i may reflash the bios . maybe something was corrupted . I also checked over the power/eject button's switches and the pins seem nice and straight. Hopefully reflashing the bios works . thanks for the reply any help is much appreciated

I just noticed something before i reflashed my bios to 1959. while in x3 config i notice at the top of the screen where it says bank select its flickering from soft to dip very rapidly. this happens after being powered on for about 5 mins. after a while it stops flickering and stays on soft. what does this mean and maybe its the source of my troubles? Anyone have a clue?

My bet is that you have a bad solder joint. When you switch on from cold all is well but as the joint heats and expands the integrity of the joint is compromised. When you leave it for 10 mins, the joint cools back down and the integrity returns....... Re-solder your joints - Just because they look good does not mean they are....You could have a small crack or air bubble inside the solder.

I'm having a similar issue. Only my xbox will work for a couple hours. Then if I go to reboot it will just get a blank screen with amber light. I was able to resolve it two different times by making sure all items work insulated on the bottom of the board and that all grounds where touching properly. Well this worked great for a day and now I am getting the same issue.

I am though able now to boot to flash bios, but when i try to flash the bios from DVD it gets about 60% there then switches to blinking amber light with fan on 100%

btw I have a 1.6 using an x3

Xbox Original Backups

I used to have a few REALLY good xbox original games, but I lost them over time to renovations to our house. I would get them at a store, but no stores sell originals anymore. I have a few games that I can sacrifice. Am I able to delete the files on a 360 disc and put a backwards compatible game on that disc? I have been able to view the files on my computer, but I'm afraid to replace the files. And, if this works, would I be able to play them without a modchip or hacked firmware(because it's on an official Xbox disc)?

I really want to make a copy of Oddworld: Munch's Odyssey. It's a backwards compatible game, and I miss it the most.

Re: Xbox Original Backups

sorry, xbox games aren't rewriteable

the only way to do this would be to flash your xbox with ixtreme firmware

then you have to convert the xbox1 iso to an xbox360 style .iso and burn to DVD+R DL

its a long, tedious process that is tough to get to work

in short, buy your game again off ebay if you really want it

Re: Xbox Original Backups

Thx. I might flash it then. I have a My Touch 3g and have successfully flashed it's firmware to Cyanogenmod 5.0.8. I wonder if it's the same process? I've seen some Youtube vids that just have me put the firmware file in a USB, put the USB in the Xbox, and when I restart the Xbox, it will automatically update(Actually more complicated than that...).
