ANSWERED Wouldn't boot to dash (E71), now RROD

HI,

I installed the coolunner chip last week by following the two videos " XJonnyGunsX" for a phat install (zephyr - which I appreciate can be problematic).

Everything worked well (apparently) - i.e. I booted into Xell Reloaded, extracted my CPU key, used multibuilder to create the image, then went back to using coolshrimp to read\write the ecc, flash then nand BUT on attempting to boot into the xbox dashboard, the microsoft 'swirl' appeared onscreen and was immediately followed by the E71 error screen.

I booted back into Xell to ensure the elf and bin files where correct loaded via the USB but continually got the same problem when attempting to boot the 360 normally.

Deciding to either cut my losses or start from scratch, I loaded back my original nandflash and the xbox booted normally but after about 20 to 30 seconds it RROD.

My original nand dumps never showed any errors and when compared were identical tough when I now read the nand, there are typically errors and after 15 different files there are no identical nands.

Any ideas?


I have searched the forums over the last week and haven't seen an identical situation but if there is one out there I will be happy to follow.

hold the sync button and power button next, and let me know what happens

Held sync button then turned on with power button - still RROD

Tried this with coolrunner set to NOR and also at PRG just in case.

you said that it did that with original dash e71 means dashboard error so try again i had this problem before hold the sync button dont let go.. then press and hold the power button aswell dont let go

Use multi builder to create a retail nand. Use that reatail nand to create a glitched nand and load it.

When you pulled the motherboard out of the case did you lift it out via the heatsyncs?

try turning the coolrunner to PRG as i heard it work for other people

put the nandflash.bin on a USB drive along with xenon.elf and plug it in to your Xbox. When Xell is started, it should find the the nandflash and load it. You might be fighting bad blocks which Xell will automatically remap for you.

Krafter - Currently not booting into Xell Reloaded, over the last hour or so I have tried various combinations as well as leaving it unplugged for a long period.
Will go back to programming the board and creating ECC files etc

Thanks so far people, it appreciated and has got me out of one hole with no RROD occurring, other ideas are welcome though I will be gone for the next 40 minutes or so. . . . . .
