wxripper issues...

Hello everyone! I'm new here and I just want to say that I am very impressed with the feedback I see from this community! I've been reading post after post after post and tried to figure out things but now, I have come to a stump!

I successfully flashed my 360, Hitachi, and from the way the tutorials explained things, everything looks great.

I am using wxripper and I start everything up to where the program begins to rip the original disc. I swap the discs, using Final Fantasy VII:Advent Children, and everything moves along well. However, once done, the program freezes. Now, I read in another post that it is normal for that to happen, however, I left the program running since yesturday and it is still frozen! Everything on the screen looks good and shows done by each listing but I don't know what is going on with the remainder of the process.

I have .net Framework 2.0 installed, running Windows XP Media Center Ed 2005 on an AMD 64. I tried using a few different DVD burners but the program still continues to freeze in the end. The last time I used a DVD player because it was giving me better results overall and I left it running til now. Any input on what can be wrong?

Thanks!

::EDIT::
I also tried ripping via wx360. Can I take that and turn it into an ISO and successfully burn the image to a disc? Obviously after implimenting the SS.bin file.

::EDIT2::
Almost forgot!!! The DVD drive is connected via USB2.0. Not sure if that'll make a difference as far as time goes as well as the freezing of the program.

what do you mean it freezes. it should rip the disc then say done. Also did you make sure to generate a layout file.

When you say 'generate', is that the magnifying glass button (magic number)? I followed the tutorial step by step and nothing shows anything about generating one.

If that is wrong, how can I do this?

yes im talking about finding the magic number. I would would also suggest using gladiator for the hotswap movie. Thats what ive been using and i have had no read errors or wxripper freezing problems. You mayy also need to edit the layout file.

Okay, I have Gladiator, but I need to find where the family placed it. I'll let you know what happens after trying that.

Have you tried ripping via wx360? Or anyone else for that matter?

Yeah Wxripper is meant to extract the ISO and thats it. But in order to put it in DVD format u need XBOX360 SS Merger 1.7. So did you stop the drive and then used the magnifying glass and then save layout. Open with notepad changed the first letter of 1 and 3 to D. Then save the layout then open it in Wxripper. And then it should work.

Aaah...i did not know that. Okay, i'll do that now. I have to step out so i'll leave it running and see what happens when I get back later. Thanks everyone!

As for the SS merger program, I tried it with an image i did and placed the SS.bin file there. I pressed merge and it's asking for a video file. Is that the saved layout?

Here's what I get now:

It shows Done for everything except the last Copy but, it shows a file now of 3.64GB (3,827,570kb) when I mouse over the iso file.

Is the ISO complete?
How do I attach the ss.bin file? When I click on merge, it asks for a video file. I'm confused on this part.

Thanks for any help.

:::EDIT:::
I tried burning it as is, and it just comes up with an error message saying in order to play this game, I need to place it into an xbox360.

I'm going to try setting up another PC (different MB, different videocard, different ram) and see how things go from there. Nothing is working overall here, so it won't hurt for me to try another route.

I'll get it set up and try a disc. I'll get back to you a lil later on what I get. Thanks again for sticking with me through this.

Okay, here we go! I installed everything onto another computer and things are moving along better to an extent. One, it's not freezing up and it shows finished once complete.

Here is the thing though...every game looks exactly like this. I'm following textbooks tutorial step by step for doing the images, but they all look like this. Is there something I am missing?

hi guys im having the similar problem ... the only way i could get it to be 7.05 + was by changing all the c s in the layout file to dummy...

whenever my drive attempts to process a "copy" i get an error which reads

"Error @ 0 : Data error (cyclic redundancy check)."

and the only way it works .. well it stortes the info to the iso is by using a dummy .. .. but so far my attempts at backing up my games have failed

ive had trouble finding the dmi and pfi files .. are they essential??.

you can find the ss dmi and pfi on the net or extract them yourself. only the first 3 lines should be D everything else should be the same.

note: we will not tell you where to get those files.

Re-doing it one more time because when I found the iso, it said it was only 236MB. It's running now, on the other PC, and it's reading the disc correctly this time. Once done, I'll see about getting the SS, but until then, gotta see how this works out. Thanks a lot, I'll report back once finished.
