Tired to install x3 chip. thought I had soldered evrything ok and had taken my time. When starting the x box (v 1.5) the red light on the lcd and the hdd light are lit. The hdd light disappears eventually but still eaves the red x3 light indicating the chip is turned ff. no combi of button pressing seems to enable the chip. Any suggestions as to what I;ve done wrong and any suggestions for the dip settings if I can get it working.

tired of fixing, time to upgrade?

Ok so I have a 1st gen. xenon and had the rrod problems and fixed with popular fix online a year ago. Original hitachi crapped out so I put a brand new BenQ in it about a month ago. Today ,boom, 0110 error (memory)! Is it time to get the new slim?

a few ?'s:
-has the gpu chip ever changed in any generation or the new slims?
-is there any actual hardware performance gains in new slims?
-can I use the original 16/32 GB HD's in new slim's? (thought I read on hear you could, just want to confirm)
-what dvd drive(s) and FW rev(s) come with new slims?

Lastly, I'm confused about the flashing status of new slims...so can you actually put LT on them? or are ppl putting old spoofed drives in to play backups? I thought I read you can play backups on new slims but just not on xbl?
But there is a FW mod for slims in the works coming this year maybe?

Thanks for responses and sry for so many ?'s as I havent been on here in awhile. Thanks!!! :D

Only one i can comment on is the hdd - the new slim will work with any 360 original hdd, have a look on youtube theres a guy that shows you how him taking a 20gb out the shell and stickin it in his new slim, worked fine :)

Awesome, I appreciate the info! I was thinking of just finding another 1st/2nd gen. mobo, but then I read that "newer" xboxes come with more/better memory on the mobo, as well as better heat control, which might be worth the upgrade...still undecided.

Well i wouldnt go as far as to say better heat control as i've seen quite a few youtube videos of people with the slim that have rrod which is disappointing as i wouldve thought they'd have that under control by now, tho i guess its not as bad as it was first time round its still happening to a few.

Also no more three year warranty with slim.

Re: tired of fixing, time to upgrade?

Warranty is no concern as I plan to mod...got some info that gpu/cpu is now combined with better cooling, (cant believe they even use a coolermaster fan) not sure if x-clamps design has been pulled or improved, which is a big component of the rrod. I decided to go ahead and order the slim, thanks for the help guys.
