x-3 questions

newb here, just installed a x-Ecuter 3 ce in my 1.2 box. works fine, just need to know where to get a dashboard and so on. i tried making a iso from the evolution files i found with a cdrw, and no luck... with the mod the way it is now theres only five different things to choose from and there all flash options... am i doing something wrong here? or am i just to green to see the light?

1) flash the x3 bios if u havent, tutorials on how to are on this site, where to get it i cant tell u (*cough*xbins*cough*)
2) get a dash (i wouldnt recommend evox because the only advantage to that dash is the ability to easily be a cheating [email protected]$tard.) I would go for XBMC if u want ur xbox to function as a media pc, or avalaunch if u want functionality and ease as a game backup system. (unleash x is good but u have to customize it alot and it doesnt have direct downloads of programs like avalaunch). Put it in ur C: partition using FTP (the new bios allows u to use IE to ftp also).

you get a dash where u got your bios most likely

3) make sure your dash's xbe file is named one of the startup file names on the x3 bios, (eg xbmc.xbe, avalaunch.xbe,evox.xbe)

4) see how it suits you and edit the .xml files to suit your needs.

ok, im not sure if it works or not, the box comes on the light on the switch turns blue, the eject button goes one red and multiple greens, the x3 flash screen comes on with 5 options for flashing. i flashed with 3.0.3 bios via http and it finishes with success and the box turnes off. i boot back up with the default 3.0.1 bios again. i have downloaded dashboards and burned them in iso and the xbox acts like there's no disc in it. i can boot up normal (chip disabled) and everything is kosher... am i doing something wrong? is the box not working right? or am i just stupid and missing somethin??

sounds like you havent installed a proper bios yet such as the 1959 bios, the 3.0.3 and 3.0.1 are used to flash on the bios you need to run a dashboard, so basically it sounds to me like you are skipping that step

Yeah you have not got yourself a Bios , The 3.0.3 is just a flash utility so you can put a bios on then screen you are seeing with the options is flash 3.0.3 like the above reply go and get a bios look at www.xbox-scence.com for info

That will show you how to get the x3 bios, after which you can install the dashboards. Use avalaunch. EvoX is crap.

thanks guys, i finnally got the right bios and now i have the x3 dashboard, one more thing, i got avalaunch followed the instructions for setting up the install cd from the iso image but my box still wont read it. in x3 mode i dont see any option to read from dvd drive or launch anything like that.. how else would i get the dashboard, media player, dvd2box and so on the box?

ftp to your xbox and copy 'em over. I think by default the username and password are "x3" without the quotes.

boot into X3's config live by holding down the white button as you turn on your xbox. Make a note of what your xbox's ip settings are, then enter those settings into your favourite ftp program and connect to your xbox. It's easiest if you dump your new dashboard (avalaunch, evox, etc) into your c: and then dump dvd2xbox and the other programs to e:\apps

While that's running, there's an ftp server running on your xbox, and you can log in using X3 as a username and password and then copy a new dash over along with the other programs
