Can anybody tell me the difference between these two mod chips other than the price and the option to rebuild for the 1.6 xbox version? I am currently looking at the X2.6CE solderless but I want to make sure I'm getting a good chip.
You are getting one of the best chips made. It will work just fine. From the sounds of it, you don't need a lot of the extra features of the X3, so there isn't really a point in paying more for it. The 2.6 will work fine on a 1.6 as well. It has the exact same install as an X3 with the exception of the power/eject PCB.
Ok just curious what is the power/eject PCB? Be gentle I'm a noob.
Also I want to know... since Im getting the solderless kit, technically if I'm not happy with the results or I'm not smart enough to read the instructions, can I just pull out the chip and adapter and be good as new?
The power/eject PCB allows you to boot with the chip off, on or into a backup bios with different combinations of pushing the power/eject buttons on the Xbox. The 2.6 does not have a backup bios, but the chip can be disabled via a switch.
Yes. If you have a 1.6/1.6b version Xbox, make sure you get the solderless adaptor that works with that version Xbox.
Yup. Good luck. Do yourself a favor and read up on chip installation, bios flashing and software installation now so you will be prepared when your chip comes. You will save yourself time and headaches down the road.
Yeah I have all the info and I'm dying to get the parts. Well see when my wife lets me get them.
I have one more question. Being that I have choosen to upload my bios and installer via CD is there really any need for me to link my xbox to my PC, other than putting on roms, etc.?
Without a link to your PC, you won't be able to backup your current Xbox saves. You can always put roms onto the hard drive by burning them to a CD/DVD and moving them.
No for future mods, I can backup what I already have on my modded xbox to my PC then put them on a CD so anybody I mod for can have the same games, roms, etc.. right?
How are you going to backup your Xbox without connecting it to your PC in the first place? Don't give people games, if they want them they can purchase them.
Sorry I meant that if I connect I can back them up to my PC. How do you charge them for the games? Like an addon pack? And how much would you suggest charging?
