So my first bank now has 5035, lol love the way of configuring it now. Anyway.. my second bank has the cromwell 2.28 and it flashes the first bank. I know I can get FlashX to flash the second bank... but what I want to do is keep Bank one as 5035 and turn off the DVD boot options. Im currently running XBox Media Center to keep my settings and file manager secure but it allows people to still run games and movies and music. The only loophole is people can load the DVD on boot.

But there has been many times where booting from a CD has saved my xbox, needing to FTP into the hard drive because I messed something up. So what I want to do is make Bank one completely secure from people being able to get into my hard drive. But I want to make Bank two so if I have any problems I can still boot a CD to load a FTP. I remember reading a long time ago that the bios has a FTP build in.. is this still true? How to I enable it? If I can just do that then I dont have to worry about all this.

No one that uses my Xbox really knows about the switches or even how to use them, so such a simple thing will keep it safe. Even my friend has softmodded his xbox himself, CES Certifed and so on, but he doesnt know how to use a modchip because he doesnt like them. I cant just flash 5035 on Bank Two because it will read the INI Bank One uses. Whats the newest X2 Bios that doesnt read the INI and how do I configure it and make it ready to flash? When I first got my chip.. a friend of mine made the 498whatever bios image for me, so I dont even know how to make it 512k to flash.

Should be simple, change the dvd boot xbe filename in the x2config.ini. So long as it isn't default.xbe normal game discs should not boot. Set the name to something like fixit.xbe and if you need to recover your xbox via disc just make sure the app you want to run is named fixit.xbe in the disc root.

Don't have an ini immediately available so I can't get into much more detail at this time. You seem to have done well with securing your box otherwise, you can probably take my suggestion, run with it and make it work.

-Edit-
Missed bits and pieces of your post I think. The X2 bios does not have FTP, the X3 does IIRC. (X2 only had it for a bit as proof of concept I think.) You should still be able to use my above suggestion to secure your booting but leave the possibility of recovery, if you put the X2 bios on both banks. Even if both banks read the same ini, if they have a non-standard boot-from-disc xbe specified you should be pretty secure. I would still recommend keeping FlashBIOS on one of the banks tho.

Yeah I figured that, thats why I was asking about one that didnt use the INI. But renaming it.. thats a good idea. I have the editing tool, so its not too hard. Thanks for the idea and stupid me for not thinking of it.
