I am sure that I could probably find the answers to my questions if I kept looking through the forums. I have looked some, but I hope someone will be kind enough to just answer my questions.

It has been a while since I updated the bios for X2.3 Pro chip so I am unfamiliar with the new techniques. I currently have version 4981 of the Xecuter bios. I have installed on the first 256 of the chip. I don't have anything else other than the default on the rest.

What are my steps from to upgrade to latest version. I have already downloaded the latest and read through the readme. I was hoping for more details to help alleviate any mistakes that I might make.

Do I need to install the latest Cromwell bios on the last 512? Best Method?
Best method for updating the 256 4981 to the 512 5032.

Thanks for the help in advance. I'm sure that people on this forum hate answering similar questions all of the time. I just hope someone will take the time for me.

BTW, keep up the good work Team Xecuter and keep making the best quality products. I have no issues with my current bios that have had installed for long time. I just thought it was time see what other great things you had done.

Use flashX (can be found in the usual places). Put it on your xbox. Create a directory called "bios" in the root of either C,E,F,or G. Put the new bios in this directory. Then run flashx on your xbox and select the bios location, select the bios, then slect which bank you want to put the bios in. Then flash.

Since you have not done it in a while, be careful to flash the correct bios. Also if you use one of the config live bioses (ie 5032) then make sure you load the correct one. The 6plus bios is only for v 1.6 xboxes and later ONLY. Do not use this bios if you have an earlier xbox, which you probably do. Also be careful editing the .ini file and ensure you put it in the root of E or F.

Thanks for reply. I did some more reading after my initial message. Let me know if this is wrong. I could use FlashX to flash the updated Cromwell to banks 3 and 4 to update the bios there for fallback. Then use FlashX to flash the latest Xecuter bios onto banks 1 and 2.

I would use flashX to put cromwell in banks 3/4 as a fallback. Verify that cromwell works. Next use flashX to put 5032 into banks 1/2. After you verify that 5032 works, there is no need for cromwell so you can put another bios into 3/4.

I personally, used xbtool to unpack the 5032. Then I used a hex editor to search for the string x2config (the ini file). I then changed x2config to x2altcfg. I then repacked and flashed that into 5032. I make a copy of x2config.ini and renamed it to be x2altcfg.ini. What does this give me, well, banks 1/2 boot using x2config.ini and banks 3/4 boot using x2altcfg.ini. So now I have one .ini file which I keep as my golden boot configuration. I am then free to edit the second .ini file worry free to select different boot configurations, turn features on/off, etc. I personally would rather have two functional bioses than keep cromwell around. Im careful to verify a new bios in one bank set before changing the bios in the other. That may be something you are not quite comfortable with though given the fact that you have not flashed much recently, but it does not take long to get up to speed. I had not flashed my bios in about 2 years and first reflashed about a month ago when the first config live bioses came out. As you can see, the knowledge came back pretty quickly. So take it one step at a time. If you just want 5032 and cromwell now, then do that. But Ill bet that you will be flashing again within a few months when the next evolution of the config live bios is released.

Would you mine explaining what new features the latest bios gives me other than changing some of the boot colors?
