x2.6 and 1.6b problemo

I have a strange one here. I have a 2.6 on a 1.6b mobo, install seemed to ok until I plugged the xbox in. The blue light on the x2.6 comes on even though the xbox is turned off! it doesn't do this on my 1.1 which I installed a couple of weeks ago. I have top soldered the d0 wire and I'm using a solderless connector. With the chip enabled it frags, works ok when disabled. Does this mean I have to install the M8+... bios (I forget which is supposed to work on 1.6b) or is the problem somewhere else? thanks.:D

Just in case anyone does a search, I'll let everyone know that my mod worked 100% once I'd got the 1Mb M8+16 bios installed (using a 1.1 Xbox to program the 2.6) amd it now happily runs avalaunch and anything else I throw at it without any problems at all. Thanks for the help :)
