Hi

Before i start i would like to say i have read and read and read till i cannot read anymore about FRAG.

The issue i have is a X2.6 and a V1.2 xbox, these were working for about 8 months, then one day the box started to FRAG, so i checked the chip and the soldered pinhead all seemed ok, when i put the xbox back together it was working again for about 3 hours, then it started to frag again, so i thourght it could well be a solder joint gone back, to which i got the iron and re did the pinhead / lan / hd / d0 joints, this again seemed to solve the issue for about 3 days and then yes it started again, so i took the chip / switch cable / switches and fitted them to another 1.2 xbox and they tested fine so i left them in there, and fitted the x2.6 i took out inthe xbox that is fragging, and when i powered it up it was still fragging, now things i have found out are

1 if the swtich is set to disabled then the xbox boots and asks for the time to which i set and power off, then i enable the chip and the box start fragging, if i disable the chip again the xbox boots and asks for the time again.

2, if i unplug the lan / hd / d0 cable and leave the chip on the pinhead and the switch bank plugged in the xbox boot asks for the time once set is ok works fine as a stander xbox.

3 i have replaced the pinhead twice and tried a wired install, it don`t work with

4 if i un-solder the hole thing and run the xbox it works fine as standard.

5 i have tied both d0 point, underside and topside.

6 the chip has been re-flashed in the other xbox.

7 i have bell tested the switch bank cable, to check for breaks.

8 i have metered the pinhead and all voltages are as they should be.

9 i have test the pinhead track for breaks, non found.

this is now getting to me and i am looking for anything anyone can surgest.

if anyone live in my area and would like to take a look i would be happy to let you, as i have tired everything i know and getting nowhere fast.

one other thing is the xbox that is not working is the wifes and she ain`t half givin me earache about it please help me.

thanks for reading and any help you may be able to give.

Best I can tell you is there should be no need to worry about the LAN, HDD or D0 soldering points, unless you're bridging something in the solder job. the first two only provide voltage to the respective LEDs on the switch bank, nothing more. D0 only acts to enable/disable the chip, the switch bank simply grounds this point to trigger booting off of the LPC. Problems here will only cause your mod not to boot, instead MS BIOS is loaded off the MB. This won't cause a FRAG.

Sorry I can't give you anything better, but at least I hope I can save you some time by confirming things you *don't* need to check. It looks like the problem is due to the install or the Xbox itself, since you said the chip worked fine in the other box.

Only other suggestions would be new Xbox or new wife. Obviously one is much more expensive than the other to replace. :D
