Hi Guys,

I've done a handful of xbox mods, and I've always used the Xecuter chips without any issues.

I'm doing a V1.2 XBOX, pinheader install. It looks like the chip is a X2.6CE Lite. I've quadrouple checked the D0 point, everything is very clean.

The switches on the front and the HDD/LAN leds work, BUT I can't get the xbox to boot anything other than the stock MS Dash bios. When "enabled", the chip appears to work, as the on-board blue LED is lit.

Questions:
1) If the blue LED is on, does that mean the chip is "working", or just "on". ie: how can I tell if there is a bios on the chip

2) Similar to (1) if there was a bad bios/no bios on the chip, wouldn't the xbox just FRAG?

3) I've checked the D0 connection even by using a continuity tester from the back of the modchip, to the TOP D0 point (I used the bottom point to solder to), and it tested OK. This means that the connection via the port, the wire, the solder connection is all OK. This also rules out me accidently putting it on the wrong via.

Basically, it always goes to MS Dash (regardless of enable/disable state and bank switch). I also never get the "Xecuter" logo, it always shows "Microsoft".

This is driving me NUTS and any help would be apprecaited. Thanks in advance.

PS: I'm tempted to try to short the D0 point directly to ground to see if I can force it to boot from the LPC. What is the best method/point to do that? And is this recommended?

I figured it out, to anyone that is interested in the future:

The front control panel with the switches was faulty. The ON/OFF switch was only switching half the side, meaning that the mod chip LED would come on, but D0 wasn't actually getting switched to ground.

I touched up the solder joints, and cleaned it out with contact cleaner, and it all works now!

The Flash Enable/Disable switch also needed cleaning.
