X2.6 CE M8 Plus Bios 1.6b Xbox

Hey dudes

I have recently modded my xbox with an Xecuter 2.6 CE on my 1.6b xbox. The modding went flawlessly infact everything pretty much has. I had 1 minor hiccup when i flashed my cromwell bios with the M8 plus Bios it went through the programming got to the end and said "Programming failed" anyhow the xbox booted upto my Slayers Dash no problem and i've been playing games etc no problem. What my question is is can i reflash the bios and whats the safest way. From what i've read i need to use Flashbios 3.03 which i put on a bootable dvd like what i did orginally with the M8 Plus. Will this be alright and then do i use an X2 Bios?

What bios is on bank 2? If flashbios is still there, then just flash bank 1 with 5035. If flashbios isn't still there, get a copy of FlashX from the usual places, and use that to flash.

Well as far as my new understanding of all this goes, the 2.6ce chip i installed is a 1mb chip. It came with Flash Bios 3.03 on it i updated to the M8 Plus bios via dvd the m8 bios i compressed to make a 1mb bios. So both banks 1 and 2 i believe have the m8 bios on them

I see. You are a little confused here. The 2.6 has two banks, each one being 512k in size. This allows you to have a different bios on each bank. That way, if you ever have problems you can always go back to the bank with flashbios and put a new bios on.

The best way for you to flash your bios would be with FlashX. That gives you the option of flashing either bank. Flash bank one with 5035, and flash bank 2 with a 512k version of flashbios 3.03. 5035 comes as a 512k bios, so no need to resize it.

ahh i understand, cheers mate. the version i have of flash x is 1.2 it doesn't support my xbox, is their a later version? 1 final question if you dont mind, when i change my switch to bank 2 i get a blank screen Bank 1 i get my slayers Dash............i'm probably best just goin an finding a tutorial to save wasting your time aren't i

Check xbins for a newer version. I would guess there has to be one supporting the 1.6 Xbox. Do you have a 1.6 or a 1.6b? Flashbios 3.01 works on a 1.6, and not on a 1.6b, and Flashbios 3.03 works with a 1.6b, but not very well with a 1.6. The way to tell is by looking at the type of memory. Hynix is a 1.6b, Samsung is a 1.6. There should be Flashbios 3.03 on bank 2, which leads me to believe you have a 1.6, and that's why bank 2 doesn't work so well.

Yeah i have a 1.6b board i went from the video chip, following a guide on here. I've downloaded flashbios 3.03 from xbins but the latest version of Flash X they have doesn't support 1.6b. I'm lost but will keep hunting, thanks for yur time and patience
