X2.6 keeps booting to M$ dash instead of EVOX

X2.6 on 1.0 box
after install, imediately updated to bios 5035
next i used Slayers disc & performed a "new format/STEALTH install"
ejected disc, reset and it shows "X2 CL" & "rox my box" logos but then boots to M$ dash.
tried this several times, also tried ftping the files over from computer (after extracting from Slayers iso).

So i popped the drive out and put it in my other xbox (X3) and sure enough, it worked just fine...Why the hell is this X2.6 POS kicking my ass...ive spent 2 days on something that should have taken a few hours...arrgh...so frustrating

I have downloaded the X2 bios manager but it looks like i need to have the X2 programer to use it (BTW in all the noob guides it never seems to mention if you need the programer or not)...at any rate if it works over network i cant figure it out...
what am i doing wrong??

its like the system doesnt know where to look to find the EVOX dash...it has to be a bios problem right??

BTW i did search first for answers to this but didnt see anything to really fix...

did you flash the bios using on of the bios's on the slayers disk? dont fink you did!

try booting slayers anf selecting flash chip.

i will give that a try right now...but for the sake of my sanity and others...could you explain why i would use an old bios off the slayers disc instead of the new 5035 that everyone on here keeps telling me to use?

the bios's on the slayers disk are setup to use the evox dashboard, you CAN use the new 5035 bios in conjunction with the .ini file to tell the bios where evox dashboard is.

ie c:\evoxdash.xbe
if you use 5035 without the ini file it wont know about c:\evoxdash.xbe

where do i place the ini file then? right now its on the f: drive....just like all my other xboxes

well im looking at all the choices (5b1 - 5b11) and im not sure which to use...im useing a 250gb HDD on a 1.0 xbox with a stealth install (f drive) so i can play on live (i.e. no changed files on C:). i see some that differentiate between AVA and EVO but im not sure what the official ones and the *FC* ones are for....

also, i thought you were saying that i could stick with the 5035 bios if i moved the evox.ini file to a certain area...please be more specific

so i moved the evox.ini file to e: drive, and it still boots to M$ dash.
for sh*ts and gigles i put the evoxdash.xbe and ini file on c: and it worked hahaha. then i deleted it cause it shouldnt have to be there. why is it looking for exox on c:???

ok for those following along at home: this is the line i changed in the ini file:

MSDashBoard = "c:\xboxdash.xbe"

it now reads:

MSDashBoard = "f:\evoxdash.xbe, c:\xboxdash.xbe"

and it works now...thank you for your help....next time im going back to X3's....sooooo much easier.

Boots fine and then it shows a huge X3. adn below it states FTP server v0.1 a Alpha
X2 4978 Kernel inside.
IT has the right Kernel. I tried booting to Slayer but it wont.
What screen is that???
Anyone ever see that before???[/font]

ok i lied...
apparently the evox xbe and ini i had put on the c: drive didnt get deleted after all....so this whole time i thought it was working...it really wasnt working right...changing the ini file did nothing...please help!!


i dont have any line in my exox.ini file that reads "dash1Name = f:evoxdash.xbe"

so as i have been reading...it seems that the bios is supposed to tell the system where to look for the dash and the ini file. and there are several different bioses available on the Slayers disk ; each on designates whether you want to use Avalaunch or EVOX and whether you want it on C:drive of F: drive...so if im supposed to get the bios from the Slayers disk i can narrow the choices down to four, but i still dont know which to use.....

...AND, this still doesnt explain what the X2 5035 bios would be for....can someone please lay this out for me simply, 2 and a half days of this is really wearing me down...

on my X3 machine all i had to do was place avalaunch.xbe on the f: drive and it loaded that instead of Evox...then i renamed the default.xbe of XBMC to avalaunch and placed it on f:drive instead along with the xbmc xml file and i have XBMC as my dash....

why is the X2 such a pain in the ass??? seriously i just want this to be over...
