X2.6 only boots flashbios when manually grounded

I am installing an x2.6ce on a 1.4v xbox. The only way I can get flashbios to boot is by manually grounding d0 on startup. If I disconnect the 3 wire connector from the chip and run a wire from the gray wire on the connector to ground, flashbios boots. If I leave the connector on the chip it boots to the ms dash whether the chip is enabled or not. All the lights on the chip and the switch seem to operate normally(they come on when the chip is enabled and don't when it is not). Could the problem be in the switch or the wires from the switch to the chip? I have checked all my solder points at least 5 times. Any help would be appreciated.

I checked the wires going from the switch to the chip for continuity, they seem ok. I'm not sure how to check the switch, I noticed in another thread someone had a link to buy only parts, I may have to try replacing it. I thought about flashing the mod, but I can't ground my d0 point once I put the hard drive and dvd rom in. I suppose I could make a more permanent connection to ground for now, I just wouldn't be able to disable the chip.
