About a year ago I modded a friend's xbox with an X2.6. The xbox is a version 1.0 and I used a solderless adapter.

About 3 weeks ago, his DVD drive pooped out so he bought a new one on eBay and decided to install it himself.

While installing the new drive I think he bumped the chip and screwed up the alignment (I could be wrong). From there on out he used the xbox with the chip disabled and played some of his original games. However when he switched the chip on, the xbox would reboot 3 times and then frag.

Last night he brought me the xbox, and I figured a simple realignment would do the trick. WRONG. I took the chip out, cleaned the LPC with some alcohol and a Q-Tip, and lined it up correctly. The light on the X2 was on like it should be but, I'm continuously getting 3 reboots and then FRAG. After several more realignments I tried taking the chip out and I'm still getting the same thing, 3 reboots and FRAG. I've checked EVERYTHING. I tried to solder the chip in, and I even tried using an Xapt3r I had lying around. Same thing every time. It is also worth mentioning that with or without the X2 in, the xbox has no audio or video.

The X2 was flashed with the latest X2 bios, and he has a locked 250 gig Maxtor HDD. After going over the motherboard 2 or 3 times, everything looks intact. I would really like to get this thing fixed, I just cant figure out WTF is going on with it.

Also, here are the voltage readings from the LPC:

Pin 1: 0.11v (2v setting on multimeter)
Pin 2: .001v (20v setting on multimeter from here out)
Pin 3: 3.3v
Pin 4: n/a
Pin 5: 0.16v
Pin 6: 5.14v
Pin 7: 3.27v
Pin 8: 3.3v
Pin 9: 3.3v
Pin 10: 3.27v
Pin 11: 3.27v
Pin 12: .001v

As you can see pin 5 is giving me a weird reading. Not sure if this is useful, but D0 gives me a reading of 0.01 volts.

If anybody has ANY ideas or suggestions, please reply, it will be greatly appreciated. My aim is 'spacedinvasion'.

Thanks in advance everybody.

Not on this planet!
OK here is my best guess......

He got kind of nosey, took the chip off the pin header and had a look at it, he then put the chip back onto the pin header shifting it over by one slot, looks fine, fits perfect then powered on....not only will it frag 3 times but it also makes the X2 switch bank light up 3 times too. Get a new chip mate its fragged, I know because my mate did the exact same thing after I fitted his chip, honest he said I aint touched it he said, when I took the box apart thats what I found.... You must now check your soldering as it would have booted fine before hand with the chip disabled as you stated
with the chip disabled and played some of his original games
So in your effort to help out you have now made the situation worse
I tried taking the chip out and I'm still getting the same thing, 3 reboots and FRAG.
Did you try using an external programmer on the chip, I bet a pound to a pinch it will not be found by the software...
