what are the differences between the x 2.6 and the x3 chip, i know most there is to know about the x3 but i dont really have any idea what features the X2.6 has, Is it a sort of "lite" version of the X3? and do it use the X2 or X3 bios (that might be a stupid question but i like to know all i can) I'm trying to get a chip for my friend and trying to save him a few dollars so i want to know what im getting before i buy it

Simply ease of use...i guess they both achieve the same end, but getting there with each chip is very different.
X3 bios is only for X3 chip...X2 bios will run on either ..obviously if u run x2 bios on an x3 you reduce its features..
X3 has all config displayed on screen whereas x2 needs config via scripts (over simple but trying to summerise)
It's just progress with the x3 being the next gen.

X2.6 only allows you to play backup up games, from what i can tell.
X3 allows that plus the addition of allowing HDD upgrade, new dashboard, skins, pretty much turning the XB into a fully functioning PC (almost).
Ive installed 1-X2.6s and 10-X3s and the X3 is by far worth the $30 extra.

About the pc part! you can even burn things to the hard drive of your xbox, music (well, you can anyway), games, dvd's, pictures and more. you can play and view them without a disc. but im not sure if you need XBMC or anything like that. you may just need a hacked bios, im not sure.

This is incorrect. The 2.6 allows all the x3 does as far as installing larger HDD / Dash etc. The x3 has extra features and addons to make it more customisable etc.AEgawd said:
