Okay, here's my situation. I'm a fairly experienced Xecuter installer, but before my current experience I'd installed nothing but X2.3b and 2.6es in Xboxes 1.0-1.4. Now of course I'm doing it on the 1.6, and I soldered everything in and got a FRAG. I turned the chip off, still a FRAG. I'm pretty sure there's no motherboard damage, except;

The purple wire. It looks as if there's something there that I'm supposed to solder the wire to, but on the Xbox I'm doing this on, it looks like there's just a black blob. I really, really hope this isn't mobo damage, and if it is, is there any way I can fix it?

Thanks in advance, I really hope I don't have to buy this kid a new Xbox.

That looks like the top of the motherboard. Why don't you use the LPC rebuild board, or at the very least solder on the bottom of the board? It is much easier.

I've found the problem.

I had everything installed correctly (or so I thought) and I went to fire the Xbox up and it FRAGed. After checking the wires again, I noticed that the purple wire had come un-soldered. Upon closer examination, I noticed this was missing:

Where that is supposed to be, there's just two black squares where I'm assuming it was. I'm pretty sure this is the reason for the FRAGing, am I right? And does anyone know right offhand if it is replacable?

It can most likely be fixed. Head on over to www.llama.com, and look for repair instructions.

Read my post above, as well as my post in your thread. You will avoid this problem.

when you use the lpc rebuild you don't HAVE to solder any wires on the top!!

Was there a way to repair the motherboard? I think i have the same problem and my xbox will not boot at all even after the chip was removed. I'd really prefer not to have to buy another motherboard. So yea, is it repairable?

Don't bother trying to ask questions about repairing the board. I've asked this question many times and haven't gotten a response. I think your best bet is to take it to Radioshack or an EE major and see what they think.
