Chip installed : Xecuter 2.6 CE installed with the Solderless Xapt3r 16

xbox version 1.6

Modchip installed and loading to the FlashBios screen. With the switch on bank 1, I first installed the evox bios (m8_16.bin) via http (as was recommended in this sticky topic )

Unfortunately the install did not work (FRAG) and I started to panic!

So then i switched to bank 2 (flashBios version 3.03) and installed the latest Xecuter bios (x2_5035_v16plus_512k.bin) as was recommeneded in all other threads.

First of all i was suprised that flashBios version 3.03 worked on my v1.6 xbox as most reports on here say that version 3.03 should not work

However it seemed to install fine over http and after switching back to bank 1 and restarting i was very happy to see the "xecuter2 config live loading" screen and then the "xecuter rox my box" logo. But it went straight to the normal xbox dashboard.

So i restarted, and keept the white button pressed, but still no config screen.

I have tried restarting with all butons pressed, in all combinations, on every different controller slot - (they are all official Microsoft controllers) but nothing - it always loads to the default ms xbox dashboard.

I have also tried installing a slightly earlier versions - 2_5032_v16plus_512k.bin
but still no luck (same error)

is it because i installed with flashBios v3.03?
I cannot install from bank 1 anymore (because of the first try with evox) or reinstall the flashbios v3.01 to test. Is there any way to recover flashbios v3.01 on bank 1?

Or should i check my connections on the solderless adaptor?

any advice would be welcome - its driving me nuts!

ermmm .... the 2.6 chip does NOT have a config live screen like the X3 does (which you DO access by holding the white button!)

You need to configure the 2.6 BIOS using a PC app or similar !

Sounds like the X2_5035 bios was working. It will boot to the ms dash until you put another dash on the hard disk like Evox or UnleashX. You can do this with an autoinstaller disc or via ftp.

@Xecuter3ce - the first screen after restart is black with "xecuter2 config live loading....." then it goes to normal xbox splash screen with xecuter "rox my box" logo underneath

I have downloaded the X2 Bios manager but it sort of scared me a bit - would i have to make a 1mb bios flash - thus meaning i have no way or recovering? Could not find much info on how this works or how to configure the bios before flashing.

@Puffinz - I have downloaded the slayer auto install but unfortunately the cd-r media i used was pretty crap so the xbox could not read it - will buy some decent cdrw and dvdr tomorrow to try. Can you recommend any other good auto installers?

The ftp method sounds the best way. How exactly should i FTP in? When the MS dash is loaded? I cannot ping the xbox but it seems to be on the network, according to my router. It also has an ip when i go into network settings on ms dash.
But all attemts to ftp the ip with username : xbox and password : xbox - all fail

Should i be able to ftp from flashBios?

1. I would stick with 5035.

2. In order to FTP to your xbox, it must be running an ftp server. You will to need to boot to a dashboard with one built in in order to do this. An evox dash is probably best as it's very easy to configure. Make sure you configure your network properly in evox.ini. the default ftp username/password in Evox is xbox/xbox. Use Quix to create an ISO of the dash now and burn it to a DVD-R (or CD-R if you are lucky enough to have a DVD ROM that can boot from one). Grab Quix from here: http://www.teamavalaunch.com/qwix/index.html. Boot from the disk.

3. Once you've ftp'd to your box, you will need to do to things:
i) install a dashboard. You can just put it in the root dir of the C: drive or elsewhere if you like. I have all my dashboards in in their own directory in F:\dashboards.
ii) The "live config" of the X2 5035 bios is actually the bios getting setup information from x2config.ini in the root of E:\ if it exists. An example of this file should have come with the bios. Edit the file in notepad. You should be able to see clearly the list of dashboards to boot. Edit the fist one to coincide with the dashboard you have just transferred to your xbox. Alternately, you could grab X2 Config Maker from http://www.x-projects.org/. It presents a nice GUI to select your options and creates the x2config.ini for you. Transfer this to the root of E:\

That should do it. Now remove the disk and reboot. You should be seeing your new dash.

Just to close the thread I managed to get it all working by installing the excellent slayers auto installer DVD. The only issues i had was burning the dvd (nero did not work but ImgBurn did firts time - and its free!)

xbmc is just amazing! that was the only reason i wanted to mod my xbox and it was well worth the hassle. Why would microsoft not want you to use such a great piece of software?
The only issues i have now is that its not picking up my Twonky UpnP media server. But thats for another forum!

did you use the upto date slayer 2.7 or old one 2.6
i would recommed Auto installer deluxe 3.10 if you used old 2.6 as it can be update by software on your PC by a app that is in download

Will have a look at the Auto installer deluxe 3.10. I like the idea of updating from my PC.
