Jungle flasher not detecting Hitachi drive

Good afternoon all,

I'm trying to mod my friend's hitachi drive

Current setup:
Windows 7 x64 - running under allow unsigned driver mode
Nforce sata chipset (using port 6 if that matters)

I am connecting my drive to my pc using a connectivity kit
Bios does see the drive
when I start windows it freezes for a little bit, but it eventually loads.

The problem is that Windows does not see a drive, not even in device manager. I ran jungle flasher with admin rights, it's not showing up in there either (not on port list or drive list)

Any ideas? Should I use a slax disc?

somewhere WITH a X3
Re: Jungle flasher not detecting Hitachi drive

I had the same problem.

I'm also running Windows 7 x64 (release candidate though)
I was not connecting with connectivity kit, just regular SATA cable powered by xbox itself.

Make sure it is installing the 64bit driver it requires. It will be in the log in the bottom portion of JF. the info for how to do that is in the JF instruction manual.

JF does not detect the drive. I was able to get it in ModeB with the SLAX 2.1 disc though.

If you run SLAX and it doesn't work, run it with the "no apic" option by hitting F1 before it starts to load. I had to run it that way in order for it to work.

Unfortunately, my hitachi drive is totally F'd and will not read discs, so I can't get it unlocked anyways using the audio wav cd.

I contacted a local modder fellow who said he can still get the firmware keys and all that even if it doesn't read discs, so he must have some kind of special equipment or something, I don't know.

Good luck!

Re: Jungle flasher not detecting Hitachi drive

thanks for the repy. Luckily, a had a client's computer lying around that had win vista x32 (asus motherboard), and that worked for me.. I was able to flash on that pc. If anyone has any ideas why it doesn't work on my computer I would appreciate the info.

I have a computer lying in the garage.. I plan on buying a sata card and sticking xp pro x86 just for future mods.
