X3 1024Kb bios hangs while flashing

Hi all,
I've got a strange problem with my X3ce on my Xbox 1.6a.
Basically, I can't get any 1024K bios installed.
What happens is that every time I try to flash a 1024k bios (either on 1234 or 5678) the yellow bar will complete, then the green one will stop 3/4 of the way. Tried to reboot, no joy.
I thought it was a corrupted flash or something, but I tried to reflash every single 256K bank separately and it worked all the time (even bank4, which seems to be where everything stops working). Tried with another BIOS, no joy either. I even managed to install an X2 bios and it works flawlessly, rox my box and all the rest, it even loads xbmc.
I thought it was a front panel switch problem, so I disconnected the switch. No joy, for a change. Any ideas on how to fix this weird problem? The 256K banks 1234 are flashed AOK and boot FlashBios 3.0.1 no problem. So it can't be a faulty flash. With X2, everything works fine, so it's not the chip either. What the hell can it be then?

Any help greatly appreciated. I mean it.

Edit1: EvoX and X2 run fine, and my supplier won't take back the chip, not today not ever. I can always use those and look for an alternative dashboard, but I'd really like to use Config Live. The main use for the mod is xbmc, but I'd like to play games every now and then. Using the M$ dash is not an option since I need a big HDD on the box.

Reseat the chip and try again.

If you flashed by disc only, did you try other install methods?
HTTP, or hard drive... not that it will make much difference...

The chip is safely in place, I'll try to reseat it anyways, better safe than sorry.
I tried http and hard drive, it hangs at the exact same position. What bugs me is that the banks work fine separately. :(
I think I'll stick with EvoX or X2 512Kb. Are there any other 512k BIOSes for Xecuter chips?

I have reseated the chip, no visible results.
All right, I'll stick to X2 512K until I manage to get my hands on a new chip.
