Switch between NTSC-J and NTSC-U

Hi, is it possible to change the XBox360 console (not the disc) region from NTSC-U to NTSC-J (just within NTSC, not to PAL or Asia) permanently without jtag it? If so, what would be the simplest way?

Thanks for reply! I have decided to do jtag myself.

Another question is, after jtag, to play homebrew DVD, do I need to hack DVD driver firmware as well like what is mentioned in the following link? I would like to keep original disc for ever as collection but only play homebrew DVD.

Sorry but i cant answer that one personally myself as im not familiar with the JTAG hack im sure someone will answer it for you shortly.
