My box loads up 3.0.0 to flash and it will not flash anything. I have tried 1597 and 1879 bios x2 bios and about a dozen others. I have the 1.6 box. I am flashing from my network and I get 0 results. I have done other x boxs so I am no dummy to this. But I am new to x3. On my flash screen it says 3.0.0 but i need it to say 3.0.3. I do not know how to get it there. Now when I say it will not flash anything it will flash like it is suppost to but I can do nothing else and it keeps loading microsoft. I have even tried with a new hdd and still the same. I have been on this for a week and I am out of ideas. My other xboxs took only a few hours but this one ???? my others ar 2.3 and 2.6 chips. Please help

Why do you need it to say 3.0.3?

FlashBIOS is working, so what's the problem?

If you're flashing via HTTP, then you still need to make sure your IP addresses are in the same subnet. What have you got your PC set to? What IP address comes up on the Xbox?

Do you see the PC Screen for HTTP flashing AT ALL?

These are all questions I shouldn't have to ask. The more information you provide, the quicker we can solve this!

I have the IP address on my computer set to: 192.168.0.98 and the subnet mask to: 255.255.255.0. I didn't put anything in the default gateway box. The IP that comes up on my xbox is: 192.168.0.99. When I try to flash 1959 BIOS via http it goes through its normal routine saying that the chip is flashing and then the green bar goes accross and then the xbox turns off. When I try to restart it, it always loads up the original microsoft screen. I have the banks on the front of the xbox set right, right, left, left, left. (On, On, Off, Off, Off). Thank you for the help and any more help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Do you have the DVD-ROM and HD installed/connected/running when testing?

You said that you have the switches set (on on off off off). That is for 1mb, depending on what bios you are using in size affects this. Make sure your switches are set to the right size bios (256k, 512k, 1mb) I did the same thing and had to flash the right size bios with the right settings. Help me not sure if the problem is the same for you. Good Luck!

I have the original hard drive and dvd drive installed and working properly. The bios size that I'm using is 1024 K so I think my switches are set properly. I'm wanting the load screen to boot up with the executer 3 logo at the bottom but all that will come up is the microsoft logo and then it starts as it normally would. All your help has been great. Thank you very much.

what colour shows the X logo on the memory module?
if red you hold the power button to long when you power up your xbox.

When I first start the xbox in 256 k backup mode (flash mode) I hit flash via network. It runs for a while and then it says reverting back to.....and it gives me the IP address of: 192.168.0.99 which is what I use when I open internet explorer to go to the flashbios 3.0.0 upload screen. Also sometimes it says 10M/half duplex and other times it says 10M/full duplex. I have tried setting my network properties to both accordingly and flashing. I flash it and the xbox shuts off. When I turn it on if I just tap the power button, sometimes it loads up like normal with the microsoft logo and the x on the front of the memory chip red, and other times the x on the front of the memory chip is blue but it will flash on and off about three times and then the eject button flashes green and red. If I hold down the power button, the x on the front of the memory chip is red and it comes up normal with the microsoft logo. Also when I'm flashing it says 2048 K flash but the bios file I'm uploading is only 1024. I've tried to flash with the first two banks on and also with all four on. With just the first two on it will flash. With all four on it freezes. I know I'm just missing something small but I'm losing my mind because I don't know what it is.

i think everything is ok, except that you have flashed the bios with wrong bios file. There are two files one for v1.0-1.5 and one for v1.6.

Flash the correct bios on the first bios bank(1234) and you should be good to go on your X3 adventure.

good luck

I appreciate all the help. I'm using bios 1959 and I have a v 1.6 Is that the right bios for that version and if not what is? I have also read somewhere that if you have a v 1.6 and are trying to flash bios 1959 that you have to use flashBIOS 3.0.3. When I flash it always says flashBIOS 3.0.0. I don't know if that is true or not but I don't know how to fix that problem if it is true.

Trouble burning/reading

Hi,

I'm having some trouble burning and reading dual layer dvds, wondered if someone would be kind enough to help me out.

All is fine up until the stage where I actually have to burn the ISO, which should be the simplest really. I tried using RecordMax Now at first, but it won't read my Philips +-RW DVD8801. So then I tried using CD Burner XP.

This seemed to work, except that I was only given the Track-at-Once option and couldn't select Disc-at-Once. I went ahead and gave it a shot anyway, burning at 8x. When I was done and popped the backup into my 360, it read it as a DVD and it wouldn't play. Is this because I used Track-at-Once? Is it because I burned at 8x instead of 2x? Also, should I tick the Finalize Disc, Verify Disc After Burning, and DVD High Compatibility checkboxes?

Any ideas? All I can say is that I'm using Verbatim 8x DVD+R DL, and that my dvd writer doesn't seem to like them much. I often have to pop the discs in two or three times before it stops auto-ejecting them back out at me. If I start up CD Burner XP with the disc in the drive, it only lets me burn Track at Once at up to 8x. If I start it up without the disc, I can choose DAO and any burn speed, but when I try to burn I get an error.

Any help would be really appreciated! Thanks!

Re: Trouble burning/reading

use img burn or clone cd and burn at 2-4 burning speed.

Re: Trouble burning/reading

I use Xbox Backup Creator to burn the images (I use it to rip them as well), but once in a while I'll use CloneCD which works great too. But on any program you use, you should set the burn speed to 2x-2.4x. Anything higher and you run the risk of getting errors (or coasters  ).

Re: Trouble burning/reading

I tried with CloneCD on 1x, with a different ISO, and got the same problem. Reads the disc as a DVD.

This time there weren't any options I could set, other than the burn speed.

I'll try with ImgBurn again tomorrow.
