X3 - 5v Insulation Help

I am trying to insulate the 5v 'prong' on the X3. I have tried about ten times unsuccessfully to wrap vinyl insulator tape around the short part (before the curve in the 'prong'), and I can't seem to get a solid covering that will stick.

How well does this need to be insulated, and is there a trick to do it properly?

Either cut it off or unsolder it from the board.

I prefer to use a bit of heatshrink, just in case i need to use that pin one day.

just snip it off. if you need it later solder a wire to the point.
