umm pretty sure install is the same as a normal mod chip. go to xbox-scene.com and look at the tutorials, becuase thats where info would be.

Actually you can do it all through the x3 config live.
with stock drive in, boot to config live. ftp off contents of C and E.
I recommend jumping into flashbios and unlocking the drive.
Then swap the drives.
boot.
From with in config live, format the drives. (actuall I think there is a drive upgrade feature).
Check it out.
Once you C and E are copied back to the new drive, I recommend locking it so you can boot with the chip disabled.

Hey, after installing the X3 w/1859 BIOS I installed a new 160 GB hard drive, ran the Config Live drive utility on the drive to create the default MS partitions, and then copied all the contents of the original drives C and E directories, and made sure that the new drive is locked, but cannot boot the the default MS side.

When I put the original drive back in, the MS side comes up normally again. It is almost as if it can not see the dashboard file when the new HD is in.

When FTP'ing into both drives, the directory structure and files seem identical in every way.

Any thoughts anyone?

Here is the issue:

As per Blackdata:
ok here is the fix you have to load up evoxm8_16 and use it to FTP into your original HD and then you can backup your original hd and dump it on to your new HD. There is somekind of problem with xecuters config live with the 1.6 xbox i think, because when i ftp in to my xbox with config live the audio, fonts and a few other FOLDERS that are in the C drive show up as FILES with 0kb

I loaded the evoxm8_16 bios onto a bank and booted with the bank.

I see it says Evox in the corner but then it boots to the ms dash. How can I get into the bios settings?

*Note: I have posted this in various HD swap threads so im sorry but the topics get lost very easily.

Need some help here:

I want to swap the original HD with a new one, i did a quick HD swap FAQ
read, but still have some questions since i dont have much experience.

Ok, i got someone to install the BIOS chip. Im not sure wich version i have, i entered the settings option an saw:

Kernel version: 1.00.4980.06
Dash: +3970?

Its the normal chip withouth Live switch, does this allows for HD swap?

Second, the tutorial says i need to Back up the C: and E: partitions to the computer but i dont have the back up option listed. Can i do this manually by using Boxeplorer?

Can i use the slayer program? What advantage does it have?

Do i need to flash the BIOS again?

Anyway can you give a quick recap.

THANK YOU.
