if i were to replace the fan in my xbox with a 80mm fan, i cant use the x3 to change the speed of it anymore right? Also what voltage is the xbox fan connector using, cuz i might just splice it into there.

your thinking to hard man...stock fan uses a 7v power source (12v+ 5v-). If you can get a 80mm fan to have a 3 connector molex then you can still use the x3 config live to cange fan speeds. or if it steal power from the hdd then it will be 12v automatically. Anyway your alright.

so i just need to find a way to hook it up to the 7v on the motherboard of the xbox and the x3 can still change it?

Questions About 74850c And Newer Drives

Okay so I need a bit of clearing up guys.
I've done Benq's. The process for that was easy compared to Liteon drives, so here I am with a Liteon drive I need to do. It's stock, hasn't even been opened yet.

1. As I understand it, the MRA hack allows you to read/write just like any other drive with full firmware.
Correct?

2. The probe methods only allow you to extract the drive keys and necessary information for merging with the hacked firmware, but you cannot ever fully dump the original firmware with a probe.
Correct?

3. The LT switch is the MRA hack simplified.
Correct?

4. What's the point of a connectivity kit other than for convenience? I mean I can power the 360 from the console and all that, so a connectivity kit is not essential right?

5. The litekey is only for the newer drives, not for older drives like the 74850c, but the LT switch will work on all including 74850c
Correct?

6. Should I bother even full dumping the original firmware (With LT Switch) etc.. or should I just probe the information and not bother about losing the stock firmware?

7. Since I will be modding newer and older drives in future, I want to purchase the tools I need to get any drive done. This is a varied answer depending on the answers above I guess.

If someone could help clear these up, it would be VERY helpful.
Thanks.

Re: Questions About 74850c And Newer Drives

1. mra hack is a complete dump on all liteon drives
2. correct
3. yes it is
4. you xbox creates a log so if you turn on your xbox without the sata cable plugged in then it's logged and sent to microsoft - possible flag. but you can just buy a power dongle for about $8.
5. it's the same as the LT switch, just a different company.
6. i would do the full dump with the mra hack.
7. vt6421 raid controller(if you don't have onboard sata on your computer) & power dongle. and a custom built LT switch is all you need for all drives
7.

oh and once you write any liteon drive with LT you will need to do the mra hack to get back into it.

For question 5, it doesn't actually say the Litekey works for 74850 drives.
Does it? and has this been confirmed?
