I've been searching but I can't find an answer. I'm sure it's because I'm tired and I'm just missing it but I have to ask. I just installed the X3 chip with the pro switch on my ver. 1.6 xbox. Now it boots up with the FlashBIOS 3.0.1 which if I understood what I've read this is better then the 3.0.3 for my version. I'm trying to connect to my xbox so I can copy my files before I try installing evox. When I boot with the chip enabled I only have the ability to enable network flashing, load BIOS from HDD, load BIOS from disc, unlock HDD, and Lock HDD. I've tried enable network flashing and I get the static IP address that my router has assigned to it. I try to FTP into my xbox using CuteFTP but I can't connect. I thought I should be able to connect to my xbox using the built in FTP server on the X3 chip. Am I doing something wrong? I appreciate any help you can give me.

flashbios is a legal linux based bios that only allows you to flash the memory on your X3, it has no built in FTP server. U can however flash your chip via HTTP. Now, what you need is to flash your bios with the x3 1959 bios. this bios is obtained from the "usual" places, dont ask in here for the bios. Because no-one willg ive it to you.

http://home.comcast.net/~x3guide/

follow that link, on the left hand side click "BIOS flashing" it will guide you on how to properly flash your bios. at the top of the bios flashing tutorial there is a link called XBINS, u may wish to read that as it may help aid u in finding a bios.

Thanks. That allowed me to access my drive to backup everything. I'm not sure what is saved games but I copied every directory with anything in it.

Yeah if you constantly back up your Xbox, you will almost always be problem free with your Xbox. I believe the save is either Udata or Tdata, but don't trust me on that.

OK, now I have a new problem. My Xbox D drive is the same as my C. I deleted everything out of the D and rebooted my Xbox and guess what? Nothing worked. I reloaded my backup onto the C drive and just checked the D and they are the same. What could I be doing wrong?

OK, I found out my problem was with the version of Evox I was running. I installed the latest version and my drives are showing correctly. I want to say that this site has been a great help along with www.xbox-scene.com. I couldn't have done the install without both sites. My wife and I are very happy with the X3 and I think I have my friend talked into buying one too. Thanks for all of the help.

Noob Modder Here....

I am just curious about a couple of things. First and foremost please excuse my noobish-ness. I have a 250gig Slim model and my son's box is an older elite version. I really want to make use of the modding techniques discussed and used here on this site. I have faith that you all do it right after watching the forums and what not for several months now. But, is there a reallu simple way of providing me with a list of initial tools that i will need to do so? I am planning to purchase
Xecuter X360USB PRO - Pre Order,

and I know I will need a way to connect the power to the drive and I will need a probe...but, going thru modchipexport.com, I am not sure which kit to buy or the appropriate tools as far as what I will need. So, if someone will take the time to lend me a written hand here my appreciation will not be understated by any means. Thanks for your time and patience.

a CK3 Lite and Probe 3 with your already ordered X360USB Pro - should see you able to do all drives! (unless the 0255 Slim or slim Hitachi end up requiring additional HW)

Thanks Braveheart....

so you are saying that the equipment I need comes with the USB Pro in the package already? Thats friggin cool! Well, you wouldn't happen to know of another Retailer that supplies those other items would you? the website i am looking at isn't really clear and they do not have what you listed only the V2 probe and the connectivity lite kit i think.

depends what country you are in - the CK3 Lite should be easy enough to get. the Probe 3 and the x360usb Pro are due to release next week iirc. Im not sure what other equipment you refer to? maybe an xbox opening kit? they are really cheap anyway.

an external molex PSU is entirely optional. If you have a computer already it will have molex outputs on its internal power supply and you can use those.

An external PSU simply makes the job easier - but is essential if you are using a laptop.

here is a good option: http://www.modtraders.co.uk/molex-power-supply.html

As for a CK3 - if you are using an X360USB PRO then a CK3 Lite will be good enough - and get yourself a CK3 Probe 3 also.

That will give you the ability to connect to all drives.
