X3 backup bios

I've got my v1.6 Xbox up and running pretty stable now, but I was doing some testing with booting to a different bios and I'm unable to boot to the backup bios (the one with the purple X light up). The box will boot just fine to the mod chip (blue X) and just fine without the mod chip (red X) but no matter what bank I try I can't get it to boot to the backup bios (purple X). I've tried flashing 256K bank 8 with FlashBIOS 3.03 through the X3 Live Config and it says that it flashed fine, but I still can't boot to it. When I try to boot to the backup bios all I get is a black screen. Sometimes the X will stay purple, other times it will stay purple for a few second then go blue, but still the screen stays black.

How do I fix the chip so that I'm able to boot to the backup flash incase something bad happens down the road?

So does booting to bank 8 256k work? If so, great. This has nothing to do with the backup BIOS.

Go into X3CL. Select BIOS Tools.

What do you think the option "Flash Backup ROM" is for????

The only bank the chip will boot from is the 1-4 bank (1MB). If I try to load a 256K bios in any of the 256K banks, it will not boot from it.

I am going to the BIOS tools and trying to flash it from there. It goes through the motions of flashing, i.e. erasing, flashing and says that it was able to flash the bank, but when I try to boot from that bank, let's say in this case bank 8 with a 256K BIOS, I just get a black screen.

What is the point of having a backup BIOS feature on the chip if I can't use it? I'm just trying to get the backup feature of the chip to work is all.

d. FlashBIOS v3.03 may not work on v1.6 in some cases (works great on v1.6b) - at time of press this is being investigated and we recommend you use v3.01 for v1.6 - this tutorial is exactly the same for that version.

Maybe that text should be in big bold letters instead of that size for the flashing tutorial.
Nice work btw. I've tried writing something up for future 1.6 users and tried to cover this just by trying to reflect that point and how to go about it. Hope there will be a 1 for all version of FlashBIOS soon.
