X3 bios problem

hello, i tried flashing to the latest 3294 and it flashed fine but now my xbox starts and restarts 3 times then the cd button flashes red.
with the x3 turned off my xbox works fine.
I read through this forum but couldnt see anything exactly the same as me.
What should i do to fix whatever it is i've done wrong without me having to send it off to be repaired?

Sorry, the cd button flases green and red, not just red.

What version of xbox do you have?

the x3 menu said it was a 1.6

did you use the X3 bios for the 1.6 version? It's called X3 3294 v16plus.bin If you flash the regular version for xbox versions 1.0-1.5 it doesn't work on the 1.6.

You'll need to get the new bios from Xbins see the following link

This tutorial will show you how to get into Xbins and use a ftp app (Smart Ftp, flashFXP) to get the correct bios. If you already did this to get your previous bios you might already have the 1.6 bios in the rar file you got of Xbins.

(Once you get into Xbins and downloand the 3294 bios rar file, view the contents of the rar file and you will notice two 3294 bios. One bio is simple named X3 3294 bios.bin, and the other is X3 3294 v16plus.bin . )


From here you will need to create a disc or whatever you used before to flash the bios. Follow this link for more details

well, i get to flashbios 3.0.1 and according to the tutorial what im seeing should mean i can select 'load bios from disc' but i dont seem to be able to select anything, none of the menu options are highlighted and the xbox controler does nothing to any of the buttons :s
im a bit stuck

im not sure what you mean, i cant select anything to reflash.

Ok try and unplug your controller then replug it in try all ports and use a ms controller
if that will not work try to find flashbios 3.0.3 on the other 256k bios banks you may have better luck with flashbios 3.0.3 you will have to restart xbox every time you change switchers

I've tried all the ports for my ms controler and i have tried all the 256k banks but i only have biosflash 3.0.1
Still no luck

don,t no if this will work send me pm with your email i send you flashx3 off #xbins it a program for the x2 but rewriten for x3 burn that to cd-rw see if it will boot then flash the bios to the chips main bank use bank 1 then use the bios x3 to flash the backup bank with the flashbios for you xbox
3.0.3 for V1.0 to V1.5 and V1.6b
3.0.1 for V1.6

Problem solved, no controlers would work, i had to go out to buy a dvd remote and all worked fine after that and my xbox & mod is now working and up to date!

When creating the dummy file and then renaming the bios file to 'bios.bin', which file do you rename?

I did the same thing as angelus did

Thank you for the fast response, that is the x3 bios file not the flashbios file?

I just got it to work by booting to the back up bios, hold Power On and then pressed the Eject and that worked. Then I was able to flash via http the correct bios (1.6v)
