Hi there,

I've got a 1.4 v xbox and a x3 Ce (one side red, other side white) with an XCP (X3 control panel + pro switch). 80 GB HD.

Pinheader install.
Now I went to flash for the first time. Pro switch is set: on,on,off, off. protect is red, means off. The protect on the chip is red, means off. Both 5v and 3.3v are lit blue, means also available.

Checked the solderings, again, again, and then again. Nothing to find. Flashed it via disc, with X3 3029. The yellow and green bar goes normally. Then it automatcly turns off, as said on this flashbios tut.

As said i get a frag (Flash red and green), no video or sound, Original start up normally, but with error code 05. When i enable the chip, it restart 2 times and the last startup it gives the frag.

My question: I've been reading around here, and I Think that for a x3 CE, you should have a 1.6v bios. Or am I wrong? Should i just use the normal bios?

Tried it over and over again, but no result. Backup works!!, I only have flash bios manager v 3.0.1.
Somebody any idea?!?!?!:(

Thanx already!!

Since you stated that you have a V1.4 you do not use the V16 bios. Error code 5 is due to that your new HDD is not locked.

I would suggest that you replace the original drive until you solve the reason for the frag.

The #1 reason I have seen for a frag is solder connections, but you stated that you have checked many times. I suggest that you move the chip on the header a little, it may not be making a good connection.

If this fails you might try to use a Mult-Meter and check the continuity of the connections from the motherboard to the top of the chip.

Once the frag is resolved, ftp to the xbox, back up your C: and E: drive to the PC. Unlock the original HDD with X3Cl, so if wanted can be used in another xbox. Install new HDD and format you X3CL, copy backup to the new HDD. Then lock the new drive, this will allow you to boot to normal xbox without error 5.

Hope this helps, good luck

Ok, I got rid of the frag when i started my original M$ bios. But is still with the new bios i want to flash.

I pushed on the chip when it was installed, but that didn't work.

I Checked my solderings for the 10th time, but nothing to see. I took the multimeter and beeped my way around the mobo, but nothing strange occur.

Maybe I should use a really empty HD, because my HD was installed with evox and XBMC, and some other stuff??

Something else came up: When you look at the flasbios main screen. You see this when you have the chip correctly installed:

the xbox recognize the chip. It says that you have your protection disabled.

But now I see this PIC on my xbox:

Teamxecuter says when this occur then you have your protection enabled. But I HAVE NOT ENABLED MY PROTECTION. Other thing, sort of this pic comes up with my xbox. In this pic says: Flash type: Read only??? manf=0x09, dev=0x00. Exact the same thing I Get, only without the read only???. Doesn't matter when i diasable or enable the flash protection.

Hope someone can help me!!

Are you using the "Backup Bios" when this screen comes up? (The "X" LED is purple)

I know that the Backup Bios says this.

Yep, that's the only thing that is working. And instead of flasbios manager v 3.0.3, i use v 3.0.1. And when i activiate the backup bios, the first you a purple LED, but approx. 4 seconds after i booted it turns Blue (chip Enable).

I'm going to try with other biosses.

I found something,
When you look at the pinheader several pins are missing. pin 4 and pin 16, are missing on my lpc. I don't know if that has something to do with it?

Your pic of whatever you want to show, doesn't work. So I don't know what you want to let me see!:) :)

Pin 4 & 16 are supposed to be removed. It says this clearly in the tutorial. I think this is a flash issie not a soldering issue. If your getting to your backup bios then thats a good thing. Try using bank 5678 to flash the bios. put switches to off on off off off (stock switch) and do a quick press. Let me know what you get. :)

ok, problem solved. When i flashed my chip with http tutorial, it worked. :D Don't know yet why flashing with a cd didn't work. I followed all the tut's on this site. Tried to switch banks, but it didn't matter for flashing with cd. I strongly recommend to all of you, (If you are able), FLASH WITH HTTP! It's much easier, no dummy file creator or burning settings and stuff. Just the bios.bin you want to flash, and go.

Glad you got this sorted. I will add that you do NOT have to rename the file to bios.bin when flashing via HTTP. Just browse for your .bin file and upload it.
