Hi

I have the X3 chip with the 1959 (or whatever it is called) and have seen there are others like slayers etc........

Is it possible to load more than 1 dashboard on the x3 chip as there are 2 banks?

If so how do you boot up to the different dash and even before getting that far how do you install the software on both banks?

One more thing, when loading newer downloads will they automatically overwrite the old ones?

thanks

First things first ....

You have loaded the X3 with the latest BIOS - this is kinda like PC BIOS and is stored on the X3 chip. Also similar to PC's, the software or BIOS has a version number, which in this case is 1959.

Right, now, Dashboards are software that the chip enables the xbox to run - any software that we now install, is intalled to the hard drive in the xbox and not to the chip itself.

So to answer your question, yes you can load as many different dashboards onto the Xbox for using as, when and however you choose!

I would suggest picking one to load (I've done EvoX) and then loading the others into the 'apps' directory that Evox looks in for applications such as DVD2XBOX. By doing this, you can try out different dashboards til you find one you like. Once you have found one, if you want, you can set this to load as the default dash by changing the settings in the X3 BIOS menu (restart the box with the WHITE button held down.)

I believe your last question doesnt apply, although when the new version of the X3 BIOS comes out, yes it would overwrite the old one if you flash that bank.

Just going to clear up some stuff for you:

1959 is the number of a BIOS for the X3. It's not dashboard. It's on the X3 chip itself.

A Dashboard is software on the Hard Drive. It's used to organize the programs/games and how to start them. There's a bunch of different dashboards and typically after you have the X3 configured how you want you just boot directly to one of the dashboards. Which one is all about personal preference (and features).

Here's a list of them:
