I installed a new x3 chip everything went fine all the way through installing the x3 bios. When I turn on my xbox it everything seems ok including the xecuter rox my box logo on the start screen but right after that a message comes up saying " no x3 chip found". But that is the chip installed and it seems to work fine. What do I do please help.

Even though it looks connected, it can be marginally misaligned. Get a magnifier and make sure it's PERFECT, it needs it!

ps, If u installed a new Hdd and have NOT locked it yet, MS WILL say it needs service.
(IF you want to mention MS service msgs, make sure to give the error number from the top left!)

I have not installed a new hdd. I apologize I am totally new to this whole thing. So I am not sure what exactly the flash bios set up is etc. but I think I do and you will find what's happening interesting. If I load it up another way another than on on off off off with the switches then it starts freaking out and turning on and off. So if I load it chip engaged on on off off off (like when I flashed the bios on to it) that's when I get the infamous "no xecuter 3 chip". If I bypass the chip for a normal boot then I get the error/ needs service # 05. And if I change the off / on order of my chip I.E. off off off off off or any other combination then it goes crazy and turns off and on rapidly. srry its sch a lng rply.

The most likely cause is you selected 'unlock HDD' on the FlashBIOS screen.

Read the X3 tutorials and n00b guide on this site - you need to understand what the switches do and how they affect the bootup.

As for the X3 chip not found error, try to boot the backup BIOS (again, read the tutorials) and reflash bank 1234 1MB.

What do you mean, it can't detect your chip?

What happens after the 'Rox my Box' logo appears?

I have this same error. Black screen with red letters "NO Xecuter3 Chip Detected!" pops up right after the x3/xbox logo. Soldering looks good. I have the samsung SD-616T flashed to SD-605B. This drive worked very well with halo 2 before the chip came in the mail.

I have a 1.0 xbox with the pin header installation. This is my first xbox mod, so I have no idea what I'm supposed to be seeing, but I don't think this is the right message :cool: The LCD screen either is blank or all the characters are black.

Also, the ftp server doesn't work. I can't connect to it at any time using ftp. I can flash via the web server very easily. Smart ftp says: (btw, 192.168.0.14 is the dhcp assinged addy)

SmartFTP v1.0.983.32
Resolving host name 192.168.0.14...
Connecting to (192.168.0.14) -> IP: 192.168.0.14 PORT: 21
Connected to (192.168.0.14) -> Time = 10ms
Socket connected waiting for login sequence.
Connection timeout. No response from server.
Active Help Link: http://www.smartftp.com/support/kb/index.php/58
Cannot login waiting to retry (30s)...

Please help me!

OK, I can flash with x3 3108.bin, then x3 config live will run. :) But now, when I go to network and try to set the static IP or input a DNS addy, it hangs. I can enable DHCP and the server will issue the xbox the same IP as it does when I flash via http. Now I can log in the ftp server. So I guess for now I'm going to try and install a dashboard via ftp

A note on the side,
I have to log out and back in xp after flashing via http. Could it be because my router is set to 192.168.0.1 and that is the same addy that x3 is trying to take? No biggy, just wanted to say that.

There is a bug which locks up the bios when trying to change the static ip , I had this happen until I went into the skins menu and selected "Default skin", even tho I was already using it.

Also if its set to DHCP then it doesnt matter what static ip it reads as it will use the one assigned to it by DHCP.

As long as you have the DHCP server configured properly on the router, you shouldn't have any problems with addressing.

IE if you've assigned a static IP to your PC, then make sure it's in the exclusion list for available addresses.

I understand what he's saying too Martin.
On my 2nd mod last week for a friend I had the same problem.
My friend's box desperately wanted IP 192.168.0.1 for some reason, and of course that's the IP for the DLink router, so the conflict knocked me offline.
With that X3 3108 bug, I couldn't change it to Static, and of course it was ticking my router off lol!
