I like all the features... but the auto Rename.... Whats going to happen when I start trasnfering a game that has a filename bigger then allowed... X3 renames it, then I wont be able to play the game... right? Or I can play it till the changed file, and it'll die -_-

I imagine we can still transfer through adashboard or something tho.. right? :)

If you have a game tha has a file name longer than the limit, I would question the maker of that game for doing that. They should know the character limit. That would just be dumb.

i gues you didn't really think this post through, did you? If you were transferring a game over (uh why would you do that, just rip it from disc:rolleyes:) you would get a file failed to transfer error and the game would lockup when it trys to get to that file anyway....

and about the skins, i forgot it was a bmp so that would mean we could skin it our selves which is even better:D

A lot of games have Filenames longer... Hence why some need fixes.... Theres a few that are longer file names... I forget which, at the moment though. Guess it's not a problem since it's like 1 in every 500 games...

I always transfer from FTP... for me, it works a lot faster. Even when I'm FXPINg from the disk drive.... But most of my games are from ISO's from the computer... hence the need to FTP upload.

Also - There is no file failed transfer... Because the new bios has an auto rename feature, which uploads it with a shorter name... hence, no failed.

And besides, you have to put the files on the hard drive first, and i assume that everyone uses dvd2xbox and that program automatically renames files that are too long and patches the default.xbe to look for the renamed file instead of the invalid file.

Yeah that's the way to go.

The auto rename feature will be really handy for when I transfer music and video over from the computer. Usually a lot of the file names are too long and I have to go through and rename them manually, so it's awesome that I don't have to do that anymore. Of course, commas also screw things up and I'll probably still need to edit those out.

My favorite part of this update though is the option to turn off auto loading dvds. Now I can stop taking halo in and out of the drive to play on live! |^)

100% correct

the auto rename feature is for ppl xferring their own insane long filenames (divx mpg mp3 etc etc)
