this seems to be a misc problem that i feel might be moved by admin. i place my post here because it involves asking if and how to reflash, so here we go:
i modded my roomates box (X3) about 3 months ago. the box has never moved nor has he tampered with anything, however, out of nowhere, the box started booting to the msdash. i decided to boot to the config menu and see just what was going on. well...as soon as i try to access ANY of the menu items, it locks up, completely.
so i ftp'd into the box to see if i could...i could. none of the files on C were missing, but just to make sure, i reinstalled the dash (no change).
a little puzzled at this point, i popped in my slayers install disk. it booted. hmm...it will boot homebrew software off a disk, but won't load the dashboard...
from this information, i decided that i would like to reflash the bios, that would be my next step...however, the config menu freezes. so i dont know how to reflash.
the only time i can get cromwell to show up is if i **** with some of the dip switches, but it wants a 2 meg bios and my live version is 1 meg.
i am unaware if this would even flash correctly if i found a program to resize the bios. hell, this is the weirdest problem ive ever encountered in my modding days.
i plead to all of you, if you know what could be wrong or have any advice in how i should go about TRYING to fix it, please please post. i am at a loss right now.
