Re: Planning To Buy A New Xbox elite 120gig.....
Hello and welcome to the forums!
All recent Xbox 360's will have the 93450C, so what you found is correct. I've been doing modding for a while now and the only kinds of drives I'm getting are LiteOns.
You should try your computer's onboard SATA - I have a Gigabyte mobo in one of my computer's like yours, I'm not sure if I tried it, but they are good and it will most likely work. Make sure you hook the drive up to a primary, master SATA port - you'll only need to get a VIA card if your computer's onboard SATA won't work.
For powering the drive, buying a connectivity kit is very helpful and I would say that it's a necessity if you're going to be modding drives. Any connectivity kit would do it, if you don't have a local retailer you can check out these websites:

I personally have a Maximus Xtractor v1.2 with Spear and use the Xecuter LT switches for doing LiteOn 83850C v2 and 93450C drives. The best connectivity kits out there at the moment are the
Xecuter CK3 Pro Rev. D and the
Maximus Xtractor 2. These have the latest features but what I think is the most important is that they have resettable fuses for when you do something silly like plug the power cable into the drive upside down.
Now, for doing the 83850C v2 and 93450C LiteOn drives, you will need some extra hardware and all of it will require cutting some traces on the LiteOn PCB at the least. If you're only going to be doing your drive once (and not making this into a business or anything), then I would suggest getting the Xecuter LT Clip + LT Switch v2 Kit and the cheapest connectivity kit you can find (it just needs to be able to power your drive and switch the power on / off). If you're going to be doing many drives, I suggesting getting the Xecuter Probe II and a good connectivity kit (one of the two I mentioned before).
Before you start to mod your drive, make sure you read through some tutorials and know what you're doing as many noobs end up turning their 360 into a fancy DVD player on their first modding attempt.
Let me know if you need any more suggestions or help.
