I am in the middle of doing a X3 chip in my box, get 3.3v and 5v lights, resoldered everything 10 times now, always the same, green off - green off - frag, what causes this? Can I test without putting the dvd drive in and hdd? It would save time, lol. Any clues>? Also, I would consider myself a pretty decent solderer, I have been in electronics for 7 years. TYIA

I can't help you with the soldering, except to tell you when done right, the solder looks like little cones. I can tell you, however, that you can test without the HDD and DVD drive in: as long as the blue LEDs on the chip come on when the XBox is turned on, then the mod is working.

FRAG is typically caused by a bad solder on the pinheader. Your D0 point is fine otherwise you'd probably just boot to MS dash. So... I know you say you're skilled with soldering but I'd take a closer and more critical look at the solder job, particularly if you have a 1.6 and had to do the rebuild.
OK, I ripped the friggen rebuild off, (never allow a woman to get mad at electronics) and have resoldered all points with wire, the D0 trace looks rough to me though, is there an alternate d0 pad? If so please post pics. Thanks you guys r the best.

PS: I actually spend very little time on the XBox... mostly school work!
