i was just about to sell my xbox to a friend, and i was copying over my game saves and whatnot, and i lost ftp connection.....then i tried turning the xbox back on and i got the standard green flubber screen (i had mine changed to yellow in x3) plus the light on the switch pannel wasn't on.......this was working for a few months now without any problems.....i too had the top off and cdrom out but i had a fan blowing on it just in case it got too hot....

all my solder points seem good, i resoldered all of them....i also tried grounding out my D0 point and then the xbox FRAGS...im not really sure where to go from here.....i tried another chip (an aladdin chip) and that frags as well....i might try the wire install just to make sure i am making a good contact on the board

This exact thing happened to one of my boxes. 1.6 Xbox with the orignal X3 chip. After a couple months one day I went to turn it on and poof, no LED's on the X3 Panel.

Then I tried taking out that chip and putting in a new chip and that one didnt light the LED either.

Any suggestions?

Solder point probably came undone... Re-check everything. It's obviously not the chip... so it has to do with something about the install... like Xecuter always says ;) 99.9% Everything else, .1 % the chip. So.. check your installs.

i just resoldered everything.....no luck.....it just boots upto the normal bios...the only way i can get it to frag is by grounding out the D0 point......it seems like the chip just doesn't work anymore....is there anyway i can test it....maybe putting a meter to it to see if certain points are getting the propper voltage? i am real disappointed with this situation.....i have no idea how this would happen....it worked, then x3 config froze and my ftp session was disconnected. i turned the xbox off then back on (45secs later) and it started acting like it is now....any input is apperciated...thanks!

just on a side note i've been doin chip installs for a while now...first with playstation, then with ps2, and now xbox....i checked all my points and put a meter across them to make sure there was a good contact.

if the outside switch doesn't light up then it's a VERY good chance the chip isn't powering up properly. Make sure that 2 led's are lit up on the chip.
