In a purely heterosexual manner of speaking, I must say, I Love You Guys.
I've been apart of the mod scene for over two years now, and during that time I've seen allot of concepts come and go. However I must state that through it all, TeamXecuter has consistently impressed me with damn near every product they've developed. I'm not posting to simply kiss ass, but to comment on the new X3 Deluxe Case. I do feel it necessary to give credit where credit is due. So before I continue, thanks again guys for all your hard work, I believe I speak for the majority of the scene when I say we appreciate it.
Now, getting to the point. Over the past year one of the most interesting scene trends is for Media Center Conversion. With apps such as XBMC beginning to replace others as the bootable dash of choice, it was only a matter of time before somebody would realize this console we all adore will be around well into the future. In fact many of us will continue using the Xbox as an elaborate piece of home A/V equipment for years to come. In fact I recently began looking into Media Extenders from companies such as Belkin to see how they compared. Not surprisingly many of these extenders barely scratch the surface with what is now possible with the Xbox.
The advantage they have however, is that there sleek. I’m simply stating that I wouldn’t mind placing one of these in my home A/V shelving. Come later this year, once Xavier, or Xbox2 or what whatever the hell it’ll be called launches, I have this wonderful dream that I’ll be able to place my Xbox alongside all my other equipment, and it won’t look like an Xbox, fact people may even walk over in 5 years and say “What the hell is that?” to which I reply “Oh Yeah, you remember the Xbox awhile back” However for this little dream of mine to come true, the new casing must not only be aesthetically pleasing (Please NOTHING at all that says XBOX) but also functional. So, for what its worth, here’s a few ideas that I hope find there way into the final product.
1. Multi HDD Support
With 300GB already filled to the brim with various forms of media, I need the ability to plop in another drive or two or three. Other teams have attempted, and some have succeeded in developing this mod. But like I said I’m a sucker for professional looking hardware, no plastic toy lids.
2. USB Ports
You placed them on the X3CP, and I’m sure they’ll find there way onto the new case
3. IR MOD
I know I know, its in development
4. Wireless Controller Mod
I couldn’t live without my Logitech Wireless controllers, however the damned dongle receivers look like trash, and I would hate to deface your beautiful new casing with a bunch of little green receivers that flash green and hang out the front end. Now I’m not sure how this could be resolved, or if its even possible, just thought I’d drop it in here, to see if anyone could add there 2 cents.
5. Pricing
Doesn’t Matter. I’m buying one. Please Don’t Cut Corners!!! In fact I truly hope to see a “complete kit” for sale, that has everything I need right out the box, LCD, IRMod, X3 Pro Switch (if your using one), and Casing.
