OK, I have a little brother who could easly sign into xbox live with the chip on, and this scares me. I was thinking if I put a switch on the positive+ wire that goes from the reset adapter to the X3, would this work? The only problem I was thinking of was If the X3 would start up even if it had no signal from the reset adapter. Any advice appreciated.

x3 bios including newer x2 bios will not connect to the live service even if you slip a game in and hit the live tab in the game. Unless you took off that option in x3 config live, then you have nothing to worry you from having your brother attempt to connect to live...

Really I heard that even if you have the chip on, and the protection thing, that if you sign on through Halo 2 or another game like that it will still connect

you heard wrong....Though I'm not sure it stil aplies when you boot with a game already in the drive and launches the game automatically. If you hit the live tab there i think it's a little iffy. Try the third link in my sig for xbl banning if you want to learn some more info on it...

ok i see what your doing. Just desolder you d0 wire currently and make a simple switch for on and off of D0 connection. D0 connected would be mod on/off (normal mod use) depending on the way you hit the power/eject buttons, D0 disconnected would be off (mod disabled) no matter what you do with power/eject.

i think....

ms does not see the chip. They can only detect what bios your running, your hdd serial, and your eeprom. With the switch turned in the off position, your chip will totally be unrecognized and will boot to stock (tsop) bios. Is the same thing as if you hold the power button for a second or two if you didn't have that switch.

I found an old electronic key switch at my uncle's house one day, I cut a hole in the back of my xbox and sliped the switch in, then I cut the brown wire (purple on some boxes) and attached the ends to my key switch. Just make sure that if you have a v1.0 xbox you de-solder the fan header for the chipset fan and solder the wires directly to the board.

oh, sry, I wasnt paying attention when I was writing that post. If you cut the brown wire going from your power supply to your mobo and put the switch in there instead, and it will disable the xbox entirely when you turn the switch off. Forget about the header, I don't know what I was thinking when I wrote that.
