X3 disabled on boot - V1.6 Crystal

I have spent the whole day putting this mod in ...

I feel I should point out that my other machine is an Athlon 2600M water cooled, so I know which way up a soldering iron goes !

That said, I have been the prowd owner of an Xbox for exactly 12 hours !

First of all, after install box was FRAGing (hey my new word for the day !).
Desoldered LPC wires and redid.

Now box boots up with normal M$ Xbox screen (quick press of power button). BUT the X on the front is RED (meaning Disabled). If I press both power/eject I get a FlashBIOS 3.0.3 screen, the X turns blue. Both the blue LEDs on the mod are lit.

I have read a few posts here and I have resoldered the D0 point, but some seem to indicate that the BIOS Flash screen wouldnt appear if the D0 point was bad ?

I have read a number of install guides, but none seem to detail what is shown when the box boots normally ?

a quick pres of the power button should bring up the flash bios 3.0.3 screen and the LED on the switch panel should be blue. This is correct. When pressing the power and eject together for slightly longer the led Should turn purple and you will get the same Flash bios screen. if you are getting these screens the mod is installed correctly and you can proceed to flashing the 1959 bios to the chip.

Ah, I SEEE ...

Theres me thinking it was my bad soldering (its been 15 years since I did any in ernest back in my college days). In truth its my rather heavy index finger ! A "quick press" REALLY IS A QUICK PRESS !!!! :lol:

I guess I was just holding for too long. The box was interpreting it as a long press and disabling the Mod.

Quite handy though, as my box will be used by my kids who know none the wiser :wink:
