x3 external light wont turn off

heres the scoop- i just got an x3 for my version 1.6b. i have everything installed and when i start the xbox the external light (the one provided in the kit) stays on (either red, or blue) depending on whether im powering up in enabled or disabled. when in disabled mode the original xbox bios boots, and everything works, but the red "X" wont go out. also, when in mod enabled mode, the blue light wont turn off and i have no video output. i used the pin header technique, both leds are on on the chip the flash protect is disabled, and i can get it to boot in 256k back up mode

What? The status light stays on as long as the Xbox is on, Red for disabled and Blue for enabled. To turn it off, turn off the Xbox. How is this a problem?

when im in enabled mode, there is no video/audio, and isnt the light supposed to be on for just a second then go out? or is it supposed to stay on the whole time.. ?
